Commercial Description:
In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

Bottle. Aroma is pretty soft with some fruity and citrus notes. Flavor is a bit Duvel-like with lots of orange, citrus and a nice sweetness. Really smooth and delightful beer from Brooklyn!

pours a cloudy gold with a huge white head that lingers a while. a nutty malt smell dominates, but is accompanied by lots of fruity esters: pears and apples stand out the most, with some banana, grape, and maybe even some strawberry finishing it out. flavor is much the same, with a light caramel hint coming through as well. lightly bittersweet finish, medium body, perhaps a hint of tartness in there as well. tons of carbonation for a tight, creamy mouthfeel. quite good.

Lovely honey and grapefruit notes. A hint of hay and soft leather. The head is full and creamy. Cloudy pour gives way to a gold-amber hue. Excellent mouthfeel - full and round. A smooth, delightful beer.

According to the description, this beer has a high eco-footprint. Nevertheless, the ingredients shipped from around the world make this a good beer. The bottle is a presentation in itself. Pours cloudy gold with a white head that lasts throughout the beer lacing was not significant. Citrus, yeasty aroma. Nice Belgian flavor with a very slight alcohol taste. Very smooth and flavorful beer with a suble but noticable yeasty, savory belgian aftertaste. A Belgian that does not try to be too fancy it just relies on the quality of ingredients and faith in the process and taste of Belgian beers.

Bottle at WBF in Raleigh. Was expecting more recognizable Belgian notes from this beer. Found it sweet, malty, but not yeasty as I wanted it to be. Simply okay. Would like to try again as I think it was overshadowed by other tastings at the fest.
