| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 1, 2009 According to the label (small print, poor color choice, back of the bottle) Brooklyn, Local One is brew with Belgian flair and Brooklyn fortitude. Unfortunately it’s not until you pour the brew that you know what you’re getting. Shame on Brooklyn Local One.
My wife picked this up from the discount bin for $4 as opposed to its normal $10 fare. The 750ml bottle pours a slightly hazy yellow-gold hue that clouds when warmed. Loaded with carbonation, the head is large and lasting. The lacing is thick and the aroma is a muted mixture of lemon, fresh yeast, banana, cloves and coriander. Palate is nicely balanced between a full, creamy texture and with a bit of a bite to the tongue. It must be the Brooklyn fortitude. Flavors are stronger than the aroma with tastes of citrus, clove and flowers. It’s an interesting mix of hops and sweetness. While a little too sweet for my liking it was hard to find anything wrong with the structure of this beer. Rune (2787), Tromsø, Norway
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Jun 1, 2009 Shared from a big bottle, no. 0769, at the Garrett Oliver event at Slotskroen in Hillerød. Topped with a cork and a wire cradle the bottle gave a bit shot and good smoke when opened. Loose, frothy head over a slightly hazy, golden body. Spicy aroma of sweet fruits. Dry sweet fruity flavour with spiced hops and raw sugar. Some reminiscent of rum and also hints of tobacco. Hidden alcohol. Champagne-like in the mouth. Flavoursome (14.05.2009). jmuhops (663), Winchester, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 30, 2009 Pours hazy gold with a large, rocky white head. Yeasty, spicy aroma with a good bit of citrus. Very light fruit. The yeast takes over the front end of the palate: dry mustiness. White fruit and citrus come in mid-palate. The beer ends on its only off-note: a sort of scorched sugar flavor clashes with light earthy hops and spice. patrick767 (2019), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 30, 2009 750ml bottle - Pours golden with a big bubbly white head. The aroma is of citrus, yeast, mild hops and pale malt. The flavor has a great balance of bready malt and moderately strong hops. It’s medium bodied and lively on the palate. Delicious. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 28, 2009 Bottle. Pours a hazy, light orange with a massive head of fluffy bubbles and an aroma of fruit and spices with perceptible abv poking through. Peaches, pears, white pepper(?) in the nose. Flavor isn’t quite as nice as the ABV hits a little too hard and buries some of the nice things that were going on in the nose. It’s not what I would call "boozy," but more like astringent or something like that. It’s a shame since the aromas made it seem like there would be a lot of complexity across the palate.
