4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 rangerred (659) - Johnson City, Tennessee, USA - APR 22, 2013
Poured into a goblet out of a 750ml bottle.
Pours a moderately hazy dark yellow with a very frothy two finger head. The bottle conditioning produces tons of carbonation that keeps that head intact most of the way through the glass. Quite impressive.
The aroma is a wonderful bouquet of citrus and Belgian yeast. A very musty smell with grapes and peaches along with some subtle hints of clove and allspice. There are some floral notes as well and it is all very nice.
The flavor is even nicer than the aroma. Lots of grape and more mustiness along with the same pear that was present in the aroma. A little bit of metal although it really doesn’t detract from the overall experience. Some spice reminiscent of cinnamon combined with clove and even a quick shot of chocolate. Mouthfeel is silky smooth thanks to the carbonation with an extremely dry finish. Alcohol is completely hidden providing just a subtle warming in the chest.
Overall, a fine example of a Belgian Strong Pale Ale and one of the best American ones out there. This, IMO, could stand toe to toe with anything coming out of Belgium and is quite a bit better than many that do. A great beer at a really good price.

Cloudy golden one with a medium foamy-creamy white head. Green apples, coriander, clove in the aroma. Medium bodied one with a spicey flavor profile, fruits like green apples and peach, coriander, yeast. Fine!
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 VALIS (210) - Nashua, New Hampshire, USA - APR 12, 2013
Very light and sweet effervescent sort of smell, almost like champagne. White grape, peach, yeast. Taste is tangy, sweet in a sour way, fairly heavily carbonated. A nice one in the Belgian strong style, just maybe a bit too gassy.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 aletiosso (37) - São Paulo, BRAZIL - APR 10, 2013
Dourada, boa formação de espuma, persistente. No aroma, malte, com médio dulçor, frutas cítricas e herbal. Casca de laranja. No sabor, médio para baixo dulçor, um pouco cítrico, médio amargor no final não persistente.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Jamesthebrit (47) - Greenville, South Carolina, USA - APR 8, 2013
Grabbed this out of the cellar. It’s about a year old so nothing crazy.
A: Looks good. Hazy golden wheaty color. Explosive head. I poured it into a glass with some laser etching and it’s going crazy.
S: Very musty in the smell. Sugary. Alcohol. herbacious. A bit light.
T: As with the smell only the mustiness is very well controlled. Lots of fruit notes. Lots of earthy notes. Very complex but a little acidic maybe. Alcohol is a little heavy not a lot of bite though.
P: Carbonation is pretty good. Lots of flavors. Pretty full bodied.
Overall this is a solid belgian beer. Very well balanced and brings all the critical aspects of a belgian. A little intense with the alcohol and the flavors are almost too complex to where no one stands out too much. Worth checking out.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Darwenus (383) - Virginia, USA - MAR 24, 2013
Pours very blonde from the bottle and has a hazy lemon color in the glass with a big head that stays around. The aroma is sweet and malty with spice and apple notes. The flavor brings out a little citrus, too, and a little heat. Pretty tasty.

Pours a hazy golden yellow from the bottle with thin cap of lacy white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of sweet Belgian fruity esters and a hint of funk. Taste follows, complex, floral notes, good balance, no hint of the booze. Solid beer.
