Commercial Description:
In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

(Bottled, 0.75l) Slightly hazy golden (opaque orange with yeast) with a medium, tight and creamy head. Duvel-like aroma of yeast, pale-grainy malt, and honey-witbierish spices. Neutral, smoothly pale-malty, berry-fruity flavor with yeastiness, some flowery hops and lavendery-orange-peel spices, and a touch of acidity. Only slightly smoother with yeast, but hides the alcohol well all the way. Velvety-smooth, pretty high- but soft-carbonated palate with medium body. A well-made, clean and basic, Duvel-like Belgian Strong.

750-one year old. Great looking opalescent yellow with a tall, lacy head. Flavor is pleasant, lightly spiced but seems a bit underdone for a 9% brew. Served this beer with and after a dinner of northern Indian food and it adapted nicely to everything but the most peppery dish: lamb roganjosh.

Bottle. Pours cloudy with a lot of head. Had a nice citrus taste, with a little bit of spice. Very nice.

750. Hazy golden pour with creamy head. nose of sweet lemon with some spiciness. peppery lemon, quite sweet and yeasty. a bit indistinct, not incredibly refined but a wonderful thing to see coming out of brooklyn. wish it were sharper, maybe some brett for a nice note.

750ml bottle with at least a year on it. Pours a clear light golden yellow with a towering foamy white head, great retention and lacing. Aroma is lemon rind, citrus, and belgian yeast spiciness. Flavor is light and drinkable, with more spice, citrus and a little breadiness. Not at all what I was expecting on this one; for some reason I was expecting a sticky sweet, darker malty experience rather than something so light and drinkable. Good stuff.

Thanks to luttonm for sharing. Pours like a gueuze - a cloudy golden color, with a good-sized head. Smells - honest to God - like lemon meringue pie. A great blend of sweet, tart and bitter. Hops come through, yeasty farmhouse notes and a good amount of sweetness - like a tripel with a smidge of brett. Really interesting, very refreshing, but very mild, for sure.

Cloudy straw yellow color with a tall white soapy head. Aroma of yeast, spice, and fruit. Balanced flavor of citrus, spice, yeast. Smooth, well-balanced.

Bouteille de 750 ml, achteté à City Market à Burlington, Vermont, le 25 septembre 2008. Bu la veille de la nouvel an. Blonde brumeuse, moyen collet. Arome d’houblon sec et épicé, pas très malté et une touche alcoolisé. Bon goût houblonné, un peu d’herbes sec et une finission réchaufante. Sec mais savoureuse qui fini bien 2008!
