COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

I smell a strong caramel scent which is incredibly appetizing. The appearance is a hazy golden sort of color. The head is definitely frothy due to the wild yeast. Sweetness is on the lighter side for a Belgian. A nice blend of sour, sweet, and bitter. Oily on the tongue which isn’t my favorite but I like the fizz. Overall, a great brew and the Food Co Op in Park Slope, Brooklyn sells the bottle for around $8. Not bad at all for a strong belgian ale with depth.

Bottled 750ml. Yellow and orange with small white head. Aroma is citrus lemon and lime. Flavor is thicker malt feel with citrus atop. Hard to describe but interesting Belgian style.

750ml bottle. Wild cork nearly killed us. huge white head. Perfectly gold color. Banana and pepper flavor. Not my favorite Belgium by any means.

Totally underwhelmed by this beer. Fruity yeast notes, sweet, seems to lack depth or complexity. Maybe I got a bad bottle. Felt a little sticky in my mouth and this kind of unpleasant ripe plum sweetness just lingered.

UPDATED: JUL 23, 2010 Light foamy bubbles on a light yellow cloud. Nice aroma, almost a cider, and a great flavor. Good Belgian. Second review: Stronger aroma than I remember from the tasting. This time I have a bomber. Pours up with a nice fine foamy head. Aroma is a fine citrus, still a little cidery. Flavor is quite light. It’s more cidery than the aroma.

Pours a hazy golden yellow with a huge billowing ivory head. Smells spicy and lightly fruity. Peppery. Peppery, fruity but dry. Bitter herbal hops offset with a lingering sweetness from the cane sugar. Dryish finish with a longering herbal hop aftertaste. Good stuff.
