Commercial Description:
In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

Bottle. Slightly hazy yellow with large white head. Grass, sweet yeast, citrus. Maybe a bit too strong for me, especially in a such large bottle, 75 cl. Otherwise very nice Belgian beer.

750 ml bottle. This beer pours a slightly cloudy golden color with a small head. It is labeled a strong ale, and it is strong, but is more like a triple to me, or is that just semantics? Nice flavor, with an interesting hop, malt blend. Very drinkable, maybe too much so as the 9% is very unnoticeable. This beer rivals the best american belgians, and quite a few belgians.

Poured from bottle...Murky orange color, very thin head. Aroma was very nice. Sweet grass, lemons and honey. Flavor was yeast, malts, honey, citrus, and some spice. Very drinkable. Alcohol very well hidden. This could be a favorite go to beer.

bottle thanks to my buddy curt....i’ve had this a few times but never rated it....poures a lively golden, mostly transparent yellow-brown with a moderate white head..... aromas yeast, sweet sugary malts, breadiness, and mild spices.... flavors of sweet sugary confection which remains on the palate for awhile. light citrus notes also noticed along with a dry finish. mouthfeel is quite spritzy to boot.... i’d like to do a side by side of this with duvel and some other highly regarded belgian strong ales. not too bad though

Bottle. Pours cloudy golden, with big white head with minimal retention. Aroma is sweet, honey with a bit of pepper, light yeast, definite alcohol. Moderately high carbonation. Flavor is complex: honey sweetness, big bready malt quality, balanced by a subtle dry hoppiness, with evident alcohol throughout. Finish is bready malt, yeasty, with a subtle hoppiness. Good beer, but could use a few months in the cellar.

750mL bottle. Pours a bright golden color with the slightest amount of haze; fluffy white head with excellent retention and fine-bubbled lacing that sticks; a beautiful pour. Intense, dense aroma, showing tons of honey, creme brulee, cotton candy, and Belgian sugars, all infused with a lively level of vibrant citrus and complex yeast and dry breadiness and dough. I’ve had this bottle in the back of my cellar for probably six months, and I wasn’t expecting anything like this. Delicate, creamy carbonation in the mouthfeel, overlaid across chewy cotton candy, Belgian sugars, honey and a dry, generous yeasty and bready core; perfect balance of chewiness and dry yeast / dough; luxurious mouthfeel; I’m just blown away by this beer. Nothing sticky, nothing heavy, no evident alcohol, flawless (after six months). Long finish, showing plenty of dry bread and doughiness, lingering yeast, and honey. I’m sort of thrown off by how much I enjoyed this.

750 ml bottle. Yellowish golden colour with a nice spicy peppery yeast aroma. Characterful Belgian character. Aroma is much like a tripel. Powdery dry texture. Rich malty sweetness. Surprisingly authentic. Very mellow. Has quite a bit of residual sugars for a beer like this. Overall this is a really well-made beer.

Bottle: Courtesy of my father-in-law. Thanks for sharing this one. Pours a murky, pale yellow with an irrelevant white head. This is such a refreshing quaff after being stuck in a stout, porter, dark beer rut for a while. Notes of lemon grass, bread dough, light citrus, and belgian yeast compliment each other well. Medium-bodied mouth feel and well-carbonated. Slightly dry, tart citrus flavor with that distinctive Belgian flavor to it. Very well-rounded and one that I would love to get my hands on again. Thanks Ron!
