COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

Tasted on 8/2/11 from a corked and caged 750mL bottle purchased at Binny’s South Loop. Pours cloudy light orange with a very thick and fizzy off-white head that slowly recedes to uneven lace. The nose is fruity and Belgian smelling with some dusty orange aromas, candi sugar, and and spicy cardamom as well. The flavor is candi sugar up front, moving to the fruity and spicy yeast character, along with some dried raisin and fig. The body is medium and somewhat sticky with lively carbonation and a long fruity and spicy yeast finish.

Bottle - Fizzy yellow with a bubbly champagne head that disappears quickly. Sweet nose of fruit, corn and light malt with yeast. Very dry and crisp with a light acidness and medium bitter. lively carbonation. Grass and peach frutiness, coriander. Not enough balance. I don’t like the bubbly mouthfeel. Wouldn’t drink it again.

On tap from notes, Brooklyn @ Sierra. Big 9% beer, we will see. Pour is great deeper golden color, off white head, great retention, sticks to the glass. Aromas are nice, some spices, yeasty, bread, light earth, citrus. Palate is so balanced, no cloying, ABV is hidden, the fruit is nice and zesty up front. Dangerous beer to drink all night, goes down easy.

Golden haze color with a citrus smell. Taste is citrus-y as well, a little caramel taste with a good hop bite. Overall a good beer and would be good with GRILLED fish or chicken, something light and healthy.

750 ml bottle into tulip, no bottle date. Pours hazy golden straw color with a fairly dense 2 finger white head with good retention that reduces to a thin lacing cap that lasts. Some nice lacing clings around the glass as well. Aromas of lemon, pepper, spices, banana, light tropical fruits, and some bread. Some nice and balanced aromas with good strength. Taste of big lemon, tropical fruit, banana, pepper, spices, grass, clove, bread, and other light fruitiness. Finish is fairly dry, but not too dry. No bitterness on the finish; but there are lingering notes of lemon, bread, spices, and clove on the finish with a bit of a yeasty tang as well. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a fairly prickly mouthfeel that drinks very smoothly and is slightly creamy. Alcohol is very well hidden with a warming on the finish that is hardly noticeable. Overall a fantastic Belgian strong pale, fantastic balance and complexity.

Pours a hazy gold with an enduring white head. Sweet smell of aromatic hop and Belgian-yeast-induced spiciness. Crisp flavor; lightly sweet with a citrusy hop presence that is nicely complimented by corriander and strong spice notes. Clean finish that begs to be chased with another sip. Definitely a fan of this one.

Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass. A: Clear orange gold with a lot of carbonation bubbles and a thick white head foamy head which dissipates slowly. S: Yeasty and fruity, not very strong, but smells good. I can’t pin point one fruit but it’s got a tropical smell. T: Very clean taste, hints of alcohol, but then a nice fruity mellow taste. M: Nice medium body with lots of carbonation, very good. O: I like this beer a lot, even my girlfriend and her friends love it and they hate beer. Very nice clean fruity taste, I will be buying one of these to age.
