COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

Beautiful hazy straw color yet with no head after the first minute even with a rather highly carbonated brew. The aroma was very nice with hay, pear, melon, grass, a hint of malt sweetness, and a bit of alcohol on the nose; complex and I’m not listing everything. However when one taste this brew it tends to be more like the appearance than the aroma, a bit underwhelming for what I was expecting, though not bad by a long shot. Beer is nicely dried out more than many similar Belgian styles, which is nice adding to the drinkability (hate using that macro term). Flavor is not real straightforward, perhaps too complex/muddled to put a finger on. Certainly carries the full power of the estery Belgian yeast, notes of farmhouse flavors come through just a touch in the flavor and nose. The beer is viscous enough to be a nice drinker, yet it’s so highly carbonated the mouthfeel suffers (I know it’s to style, but doesn’t work in this bier). Overall I had to give it a 13 because there is so much going on here, but this brew could be so much more. For the record the bottle I had was more than a year old, all the time in my fridge, but I can’t help but think this bier didn’t age well or something else was off. It simply suffers in being enjoyable, and above all else a bier no matter how simple or complex should be enjoyable. As a side note, I paired this with a thick thick stew my church makes twice per year which is highly anticipated within the community. When paired with this hearty fair, it helped to balance out the bier and make it more appealing.

Thick, white head with fine bubbles - thin lacings on the glass. Some aroma of bread, bananas and maybe melon. Appearance is dark yellow haze. Lots of fruit: bananas, apples and pear in the flavour. Fairly pronounced hop finish.

Bona triple.

Pours hazy orange with a large-bubble white head, quickly dissipates. The bright ester-y aromas with citrus abound. Flavor is not particularly distinctive, but pleasant nonetheless. It’s good, not great.

(75 cl bottle from Gammel Strand Øl & Vin) Cork pops energetically with a loud bang and foam pouring out of the bottle. Pours a clooudy golden with rich, white head. Good lace and retention. Aroma is spicy with notes of yeast, pepper, coriander and citurs. Oily on the palate, full-bodied, medium carbonation and a bitter finish. Taste is medium bitter with some acidic notes. Girlfriend says: "I was not really impressed by this."

[750ml bottle, Appellation Wines, Edinburgh] Hazy straw yellow, frothy white head from the decent amount of carbonation. Aromas of yeast, coriander and a touch of spice. On the palate, fantastic blend of banana yeast esters and spicy, almost white pepper spikiness. Wonderful aftertaste as all these components come together - the one thing that doesn’t? The alcohol. Really doesn’t remotely taste 9%. Fantastic beer [18102011]
