5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA Oct 20, 2007 Bottle: Dark straw, moderate fizzy off-white head, subsides quickly, sparce lacing. Leathery nose, spicy as well. Somewhat reminds me of a Belgian Tripel. Does have a bit of barnish/basement funk. Bready on the tongue, with a fairly strong floral flavor profile. A little astringent, and not as clean as Belgian examples, but still fairly decent. Body and mouthfeel are moderate. Quite spritzy, with citrusy barnyard like finish. Definitely comes across as somewhat of a Belgian Tripel. Not half bad, and certainly better than may oher examples. Thanks Brian for the trade!
LinusStick (1830), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 16, 2007 Wow....this is one of my favorite tasting Belgian Strongs EVER. Not too sweet which is too typical for the style. Aroma was a little weak. Mostly spices. Pour was a very light gold with a one finger white head. Taste was spicy and peppery first and foremost. There was some sugar and fruits as well. Could pick up corriander and maybe orange/citrus. Beware: This beer does not tatse strong and is very easy to drink. Delicious! rudolf (1734), Buffalo, New York, USA Oct 16, 2007 Clear gold, white head. Nose is yeast, milky lemon, peaches, light spice (corriander, clove) - a bit sweet. Flavor is lemon, clove, yeast, quite earthy. Ok but not great. beerbuzzmontreal (2909), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Oct 15, 2007 Pours a cloudy blonde color with a thin white head. Good aroma of fruits, yeast and noble hops. Good flavor of fruits, yeast, noble hops, it’s pleasantly dry in the finish. The body is light to medium with a superb, comfy, creamy texture and moderate carbonation. Very impressive. JohnyCorkscrew (5), Greeley, Colorado, USA does not count Oct 15, 2007 This would be a top notch every day ale if it weren’t for the price tag. Color is a nice gold while the flavor doesn’t touch the soul in either offense or elation. tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 13, 2007 Bottle, courtesy of and shared with Mabel and Jerc. Medium yellow, small white head. Yeasty, fresh lemon aroma. Taste features alcohol, soft malt, lemon, zest - very good in a sneaky way. A real grower. Great soft body. Starts quietly and finishes world class. Uglyradio (773), Greenville, South Carolina, USA Oct 13, 2007 Nice deep golden pour. White head. Spicy aroma. Hoppy. Good flavor, yeasty and malty. I enjoyed it. doubleipa (224), Georgia, USA Oct 11, 2007 Lots of different aromas: moderate malt, hay, straw, light hops, grass, banana, clove, pepper. Smale, creamy head, excellent lacing, clear , yellow. Can’t taste the alcohol, but can feel it. Since Garrett raves about this style of beer and Saison Dupont , in particular, I was very eager to try this beer.
