COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

Nice amber/gold color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of yeast, citrus, coriander, & some clove; Flavor of sweet malt, yeast, fruit, bananas, some hops, and spice; Nicely balanced; The alcohol is fairly well hidden; Overall, pretty good brew.

Orangy/spicy and banana esters with some mild pepper fusels backing it up. Slightly cloudy appearance with decent lacing in a wide Belgian beer glass. Taste is very soft/delicate focused on banana and orange esters. Overall the mouthfeel is soft and yet effervescent. You don’t get any alcohol heat which is surprising for a beer this big. I could drink this all night! Wish I had another here....

A very nice summer beer. Pours a pure gold with a thin white fizzy head. Nose and taste of slight spice and citrus. Easy drinking improved as the bottle warmed to near room temperature.

Cloudy golden yellow with large whitish head and bubbly. Aroma banana, citrus, clove, other spices. Medium body, slightly oily texture, prominent carbonation, hardly any presence of alcohol. Flavor kind of chalky-sweet with citrus zest, yeast. Finish long and sort of sweet. Good. Would have preferred either a little more acidity or dryness.

75cl. bottle from a supermarket in NYC. It pours a cloudy golden-amber bubbly (champagne-like) liquid with an immense bubbly and extremely consistent pillowy white head that lasts completely throughout the beer and leaves a massive lacing. Beautiful! The aroma is mild, very fresh and complex, with mostly fruity hints (citron, apricot, bananas), but also some light herbal hoppiness, a little spices and yeast. It tastes incredible, mellow, intenser than in the nose thanks to the 9% ABV, which is noticeable but very nicely blent with the other notes. It has an original rum-like character. It feels medium-high in sweetness, with a low sourness and low-medium bitterness. In the mouth it feels lively carbonated (but completely pleasant, with little bubbles expanding the flavour), oily, with a medium body (light for its kind) that gives it more drinkability and a long dry finish, with an aftertaste of fruits, a little pepper and alcohol. All in all a very original and nicely balanced brew. Presentation is top-notch, very smart, (a customized cap would be appreciated, though) for a very belgian-like brew that seems to be a hybrid of a saison and a tripel. It pairs very nicely with many kinds of food. A beer to enjoy.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Snifter. Appearance: The massive, rising stark white head made it very difficult to determine the color at first, but eventually determined it to be a glowing golden-orange. The head really lasts and sticks all over the glass. Gorgeous. Aroma: Very dry with pepper, clove and straw, with a slightly sweet undercurrent of banana and candi sugar. Taste: The sweet and the dry are in full battle on this one. Wonderful sweet backbone of banana, fleshy fruit and sugar against very dry pepper, clove and a tinge of mustiness. Great battle, but the dry wins in the end. Palate: Highly carbonated and effervescent. The body is almost chewy but remains light and easy to drink. Dry finish that is also quite warming. Overall: Finally I get to have an American made Belgian Strong Pale / Golden Ale that actually rivals the Belgian heavy hitters such as Duvel and Delirium Tremens (Goose Island Matilda is more like Orval, so I am not counting that. Just mentioning that because I love Matilda). Great stuff!
