Commercial Description:
In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

Pours a honey color, with little head but a nice hue, Aroma is fruity: apple, bright and seltzer-like too. Fresh, gin, and lime spritzer. Different. Too high carbonation, bubbly, but not too sticky. Alcohol is apparent. So is white pepper, capsicum, and overripe fruits like the bottom of a sangria pitcher. 8-3-7-3-14

Great hazy gold color with thick white head. Nice hoppy-fruity aroma with some apricot esters. Smooth carbonation is good. The fruitiness fills the body, which ends up coming up short and finishes too sweet for my taste.

Golden yellow, with a decent head. Malty, bready aroma, with some fruity notes. Nice apple or pear flavors to start, with an almost savory Euro-hop finish. Sampled at 2007 Asheville Brewgrass.

750ml bottle; Nose of spices, corriander, yeast, and light sweet fruitiness; hazy gold with a medium, glass-lacing, white head; flavor of corriander, yeast, light alcohol, and hop bitterness. Pretty good!

Awesome bottle! - sorry, just had to get that out - semi-cloudy golden beer with a light orange tint - musty/earthy aroma, with light spices, orange peel, lemon rind and a touch of candi sugar - fairly spicy and peppery up front, followed by some orange sweetness and a touch of phenolics - light tartness in the background, followed by some grainy notes - very light and saison-like - finishes a little thin, but otherwise this is a fairly solid brew.

The aroma is yeast, malt, fruit, and spice. The appearance is hazy gold with an average. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is pretty smooth. Pretty much everything about this beer is a good approximation of a true Belgian.

It does have a nice bottle, but does it’s contents live up to the asthetics? A yellow beer, with an initially large, frothy and lively head, which doesn’t have much retention. Lots of clarity. Bright aroma. Sweet bubble gummy notes, light & mild lemon hints, yeasty with subtle perfumy hints. Flavor is yeasty, sweet and a bit spicy. Lots of bubble gum sweetness, mild banana background, white pepper spicyness, with some phenolic, light alcohol suggestions in the sweet grassy finish. A bit sweet and simple, but has drinkability, nonetheless.

Bottled. Very grainy, barley, wheat aroma, extremely dry. Flavor has a touch of sweetness up front but ends in a wet, soggy dryness that sucks up moisture from the tongue. A touch of hop or of citrus, maybe, but this is mostly like licking a rug. I had high expectations for this beer, I am disappointed. But maybe I just am horrifically sick of Brooklyn after drinking some 13 or 14 of theirs beers in the past week.

Incredible appearance - nice big yoked and embossed bottle, mostly clear gold beer with a lacy white head. Soft, wit aroma with alcohol vapors. The dried residue on the top of the bottle smells oddly of sweet, burnt pipe tobacco. Nice lemon-peachy fruitiness, moderate sweetness, vanilla. Lightly sour and acidic on the tip of the tongue. A very good mouth and finish with a musty bitterness in the back corners of the mouth on the finish. Moderately, but pleasantly, astringent. A formidable brew from a brewery that’s earned its reputation.
