Commercial Description:
In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

(bottle - corked 750 ml) Cloudy orange/amber color with a fizzy white head. Aroma is very spicy and yeasty. Lots of malts, yeast, orange, and a little bit of alcohol. Smells like Duvel a little bit. Flavor is equally as spicy as the aroma. Very sweet, malty, and spicy at the front with some sweet honey and a little candy in the middle, and a slightly warming and spicy finish with a lot of carbonation on the tongue.

Hazy yellow out of the bottle with a lasting white head. Spicey coriander, clove and orange nose. Nice bitter orange peel, coriander, pepper and light yeast flavors. The alcohol is well integrated. A very enjoyable beer.

Bottle. Light gold with a soapy medium-sized white head. The aroma is pleasantly fruity - lots of flowery potpourri and biscuit. Spritzy body with biscuit malt flavour and cookie spices. Evidence of ginger and mild coriander as well. Quite good and quenching.

Looks like they really got this one. Delicate aroma that shows a hint of phenol, plus apple skins and banana and a background of doughy yeastiness. Also something of a sugary breadiness. There’s just a delicate fruity bready spiciness to this aroma that really works. Lightly hazy golden amber color, foamed up quickly on the pour but faded just as quickly. Aah, right at the front of the mouth I get it. Fluffy airy palate with a burst of juicy sweetness right behind the crackling carbonation. There’s more raw sugar in the flavor than aroma, but its never sticky because the mouthfeel is right on. Spicy yeastiness contributes a modicum of complexity, though it could be more so. Finish is semi-dry, and reveals virtually none of its alcoholic strength. This is my first Brooklyn beer since 2002 (and more regularly since 2001) and its clear I’ve missed them.

Pours orange with a frothy white head. The aroma has orange zest, yeast, spices and has the wit-like as someone stated a in a previous rating. I’m getting the orange zest and coriander, but it seems like more of a tripel style malt than wheat. Medium / full body with semi-sharp carbonation coming out on the finish. The flavor starts with lots of spice, thick malt, candi sugar, a citrus blend, pepper and some abv. The finish gets spicier and a welcome light burn. There is quite a bit of complexity to this one. It strikes me as having elements of a wit, tripel, Belgium golden with a unique twist on them all. A well crafted beer that I wish I would have picked up more just one bottle. Hopefully I can get it on another trip out east.

750ml bottle - Pours golden with a big bubbly white head. The aroma is of citrus, yeast, mild hops and pale malt. The flavor has a great balance of bready malt and moderately strong hops. It’s medium bodied and lively on the palate. Delicious.
