Commercial Description:
In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

Pours a pale hazy with a medium cremay white head. The aroma is sour spicy mellow and sweet. The flavor is belgian funky, crisp, slightly sweet, and a tad spicy. Smooth on the palate. Tasted at the Summertime Brewsfest, need to do it from a bottle.

750 ml. Slight haze on the pale golden brew. Large and lasting head leaves nice lace on the Brooklyn Trappist glass. Aroma is light fruit, spicy yeasty bread, citrus, honey, and coriander. Flavors of citrus, resin, alcohol, wheat, white wine grapes, spices; slight banana and bubblegum. A tad-larger-than-light body is soft and dry.

Bottle sampled. Pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma of fruit, yeast, spices, citrus, and slight hops to the nose. The flavor is sweet, fruit, bread, spices, citrus, and finishes dry. Good body, good brew.

750mL Bottle. Aroma blasts with yeast and sordid peppercorns. A bite medicinal for this cowboy, sensitive to the phenols. Floral and spicy is right on. Pours a redolent blazed gold, clouded 60%. Real lacy, soft soap slides down the glass and gracefully rides the beer. In terms of flavor, it’s not too far off from the aroma. The 9% smacks you in the face with scalding flare and then peppers the palate with whole spice. Astrigency bursts in and escorts the dryness down the run way. Malts and sugars edge clean and lemony. Hops grow bold and gummy, complementing the slightly confused run of yeast products. A real yeast-defined beer, which is what one would expect, but I can’t get over the harshess, both in alcohol and parching phenols. Carbonation right on. Overall, this is not as good as it could be.

Wow....this is one of my favorite tasting Belgian Strongs EVER. Not too sweet which is too typical for the style. Aroma was a little weak. Mostly spices. Pour was a very light gold with a one finger white head. Taste was spicy and peppery first and foremost. There was some sugar and fruits as well. Could pick up corriander and maybe orange/citrus. Beware: This beer does not tatse strong and is very easy to drink. Delicious!

Courtesy boboski. Pours a bubbly, effervescent gold, with a foamy white head. Smells of some clove, spices, nutmeg, and some pine as well. Very fresh smelling. Very sweet, big cinnamon taste. A little syrupy malts, but with some nice flavor. The sweetness makes me want to keep coming back for more. Great finish which is quite sweet on the lips.

Light golden color, with a full head of lasting foam. Authentic Belgian smells, with some light fruits, yeast, farmhouse. Flavor has nice balance, with a delicate sweetness and finish. An ale of high quality.
