Commercial Description:
In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

Bottle. Aroma of orange, other citrus, orange peel, other mild fruity esters in the area of maybe banana or peach, slightly restrained Belgian-yeast earthiness. Flavor richer than expected from the somewhat dainty aroma. Alcohol kicks in (not at all oppressively) to bring out the malt, spiciness gains in strength. Sort of wore on my palate over time resulting in a somewhat abrasive grainy/alcohol quality, but I’m kind of splitting hairs. Overall a very nice brew.

750 ml bottle. Yellowish golden colour with a nice spicy peppery yeast aroma. Characterful Belgian character. Aroma is much like a tripel. Powdery dry texture. Rich malty sweetness. Surprisingly authentic. Very mellow. Has quite a bit of residual sugars for a beer like this. Overall this is a really well-made beer.

Bottle from Wegman’s in Princeton. Really yeasty, perfumy aroma with pale malt, light fruits, and spices. Flavor is lots of yeast, floral hops, pale malt, green apple, and spices. Sort of a tripel meets a saison meets a strong Belgian golden ale. Lively palate. Very well done.

[Sampled at DØE-festival, Valby, 2007 with svoger.] Expected more, but maybe I was filled up with too much stouts and IIPA’s. But Brooklyns beers are always worth a visit and I’m sure this is a nice brew under real circumstances. Hazy and golden. Notes of yeast, alcohol. coriander, spices and indeed a complex beer.

Bottle thanks to kryptic. Aroma of sweet candy sugar, some citrusy orange. Fairly simple but pleasant. Pours bright, hazy gold with a big creamy head that fades quickly. Flavor of sweet malt, lemon zest, some bread dough with a lively yeast component. Fairly rich on the tongue with lively carbonation.

Garden fresh yeast and fruit aroma, smells like your walking down the isle of a tropical fruit market, near perfect blend of fruit esters with the German hops and barley, smooth and just teasingly sweet. The beauty of Belgium yeasts has seldom been more elequantly displayed Thanks Kingpin
