COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

Bottled. Yellow coloured. Unclear. Dense off white head. Destinct wheat notes in the aroma. Sweetness, yeast and fruits. Alcohol is notable. Flavour of fruits, light alcohol, sweetness and spice. Quite complex and balanced. Medium bodied. Has a dry spiced end. Nice one. Had it twice.

Bottle... Straw-colored ale with a big, frothy, white head. Good retention. Very herbal, earthy aroma and flavor... lavender, pepper and coriander phenols followed by fuzzy fruit esters and a tiny waft of campfire smoke. Solid, pale malt flavor matched by unyielding hop bitterness. Surprisingly thin, watery mouthfeel for such a high octane brew. Soft carbonation. Thanks and happy birthday to boboski!

Bottle from River’s Bend. Poured hazy orange color with medium fizzy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Aroma was complex sweet yeasty and citrus. Medium body. Medium balanced flavor with medium bittersweet with small alcohol bite finish. Good brew worth trying with some age.

A Mes rate: Bottle at Ølfestival 2007. Think it was Martyn who poured this for me but at this point (2am-ish) all was a little hazy.Spicy yeasty and typically Belgian in style. Plenty of perfumey alcohol and citric notes. Downable despite its strength. Pretty standard.

UPDATED: JUN 23, 2007 Gorgeous bottle... but I guess that’s beside the point. A pale straw colour, light hazy and a huge pillowy white head. Really a gorgeous-looking brew. Fresh peppery aroma, light dusty/minty spiciness as well. The yeast they’ve used is quite expressive with nice herbal mint, coriander, and a sweet pear fruitiness being the most obvious characteristics. The flavour is substantially maltier than either the aroma or appearance would have suggested. Fresh hay/straw maltiness with sweet fruity (pear/apple/white grape) esters. Soft dusty earthy backnote with soft clove adn black pepper spiciness. Herbal and minty on the finish with a bit of breadiness lingering on the back of the palate. A bit wheaty with a fairly dry finish (although it could always be a bit drier). A touch of citrus on the back keeps it refreshing. This is an excellent beer that should improve over the next year or two.
