Commercial Description:
In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

Pours gold with a thick rich off white head. Smells of citrus, bananas and some sugar. Tastes of bananas, cloves, spice, hay, some peppery hints. Mouthfeel is full. Finishes earthy. Okay beer, but not on par with what Brooklyn’s released in the past.

Gorgeous bottle... but I guess that’s beside the point. A pale straw colour, light hazy and a huge pillowy white head. Really a gorgeous-looking brew. Fresh peppery aroma, light dusty/minty spiciness as well. The yeast they’ve used is quite expressive with nice herbal mint, coriander, and a sweet pear fruitiness being the most obvious characteristics. The flavour is substantially maltier than either the aroma or appearance would have suggested. Fresh hay/straw maltiness with sweet fruity (pear/apple/white grape) esters. Soft dusty earthy backnote with soft clove adn black pepper spiciness. Herbal and minty on the finish with a bit of breadiness lingering on the back of the palate. A bit wheaty with a fairly dry finish (although it could always be a bit drier). A touch of citrus on the back keeps it refreshing. This is an excellent beer that should improve over the next year or two.

Yellow and mostly clear with a tall-building white head. Sweet sugar and alcohol nose with considerable sweet yeast esters, flowery and perfumy, soapy and stinging with hot alcohol. Not a stinging flavor, though, more just simply sweet and light on the palate while still maintaining a moderate thickness. Soapy perfume flavors of anise and spoiled lemons, with a tingling, bubbly texture, finishing oily and sappy with a pine and lemon residue. Nothing fantastic, but still tasty and drinkable. It’s a strong golden Belgian ale in the vien of Unibroue but not as good.

The body is a pale gold and it’s cround with a sustainedfizzy head. I’m in agreement with the last few raters - it seems like a Tripel. The nose has soft fruits, warm bread, and is balanced by a grassy/herbal bitterness. Very smooth drinking. The flavor is a skillful blending of the fruity sweetness, pepper, honeyed bread, and a hoppy bitterness. It finishes on a mildly bitter, dry note. Well done.

Yellow straw color with a hugh billowy off-white head. Lots of effervescence present. Floral hops and light malt present in the aroma along with some lime and dust old barn scent. Somewhat interesting, but nothing really caught my interest. Effervescence everywhere in the palate, that makes the thickness seem to float away. Slight Duvel qualities, but not the finesse. Citric hops bite in the middle and lead to a dry herbal bitter finish that also has a dusty pollen-like character. Linger returns to some pale malt. Quite assertive at times. Lots of things to keep the mind occupied, but not enough pleasant ones to make it truly pleasurable.

Bottle from River’s Bend. Poured hazy orange color with medium fizzy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Aroma was complex sweet yeasty and citrus. Medium body. Medium balanced flavor with medium bittersweet with small alcohol bite finish. Good brew worth trying with some age.
