COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

Grabbed this out of the cellar. It’s about a year old so nothing crazy. A: Looks good. Hazy golden wheaty color. Explosive head. I poured it into a glass with some laser etching and it’s going crazy. S: Very musty in the smell. Sugary. Alcohol. herbacious. A bit light. T: As with the smell only the mustiness is very well controlled. Lots of fruit notes. Lots of earthy notes. Very complex but a little acidic maybe. Alcohol is a little heavy not a lot of bite though. P: Carbonation is pretty good. Lots of flavors. Pretty full bodied. Overall this is a solid belgian beer. Very well balanced and brings all the critical aspects of a belgian. A little intense with the alcohol and the flavors are almost too complex to where no one stands out too much. Worth checking out.

Pours straw with a lot of wispy head. Nose is Belgian yeast, spicy yeast, lemon, fruit esters, banana. Taste is Belgian yeast, very bready, sweet, then I get some spicy yeast, fruit esters, aftertaste lingers. Lively and effervescent. Solid offering, a bit too sweet, and I prefer other Belgian yeasts to this one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Large format bottle, served in a tulip glass - split with friends. One of Brooklyn’s better beers.

Drank right after a Duvel so it had some big shoes to fill. Decent pour with a nice head although more on the cloudy side like a hefeweizen. Crisp and dry. Peppery flavors.

Pours a slightly hazy gold with an enthusiastic head, great persistence and spotty lacing. Nose is fruity yeast and sweet malt, with just a hint of funk. Taste starts out sweet, with light tropical fruit, pear or apple, and a hint of funk, finishing dry with slight pepper and grassy hops. Medium bodied, with active sustained prickly carbonation, lingering light hoppy bitterness, and just the slightest warming. Very nice. Very dangerous. This does not feel like a 9% ABV. A stonking good Belgian with lots of body and a smooth, pleasant flavour. Not sure it’s worth the $13 a bottle it ran me, which is the only reason I’ve marked it down a little on the overall.

1pint 9.4 fl oz bottle bought in Manhattan. Sorry ... Pours out pale golden, fine white head. Malt and unknown fruity on the nose. Starts alcoholic malty, yeasty, dry fruity background. High carbonated. Heavy stuff. Nothing to drink fast. Almonds, marzipan and alcoholic in the aftertaste.

750 ml bottle. Pours a rich gold color with moderate head of big bubbles that dissipate quickly. Aromas of light maple syrup, raisins, and sweet malts. Flavors of toasted malts, brown sugar, alcohol, and light resin.

The pour produced an average sized (two finger thick) head with a creamy off white color. The head slowly fades down to small ring of slick lace. Underneath the head is a light golden honey colored liquid with a hazy appearance and streams of tiny bubbles rushing to the surface. The aroma is full of fruity, estery yeast, sweet malts and some light, funky phenolic notes. The flavor up front it has candy like sweetness with light tropical fruit notes, some pear, apple, and light malt as well as some funky phenolic notes. In the middle it starts to dry a little and we add some mild warming alcohol and mild spicy/leafy hops to its malty character. It finishes much dryer than it started but still with some residual sweetness mixed into mild hop notes. The palate is full and lively with plenty of carbonation.
