COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Here in Brooklyn we’ve combined European malt and hops, Belgian dark sugar, and raw wildflower honey from a New York family farm to create Brooklyn Local 2. Our special Belgian yeast adds hints of spice to the dark fruit, caramel, and chocolate flavors. After 100% bottle re-fermentation, this ale reveals a marvelous dry complexity, enjoyable by itself or at the dinner table.

Nice brown to red body, khaki head. Aroma is really flowery, but quite mild comparing to flavour. Flavour has lots of maltiness, flowery honey and really nice herbal hoppiness. Nicely balanced. One of the best mouthfeels ever. Balanced and thick, still refreshing.

Looks nice dark brown with a thick beige head. Strong spicy, aroma yeast and roasted malts. Flavour is nice slighty fruity.. bitter in the finish. Very belgian. But a little unstated. The flavour of the yeast does not have the zing i have come to expect in belgian style beers. It’s a good brew but lacks complexity.

Bottle 75 cl. Poured dark brown colour with slightly tan head. Aroma is fruity, yeast and malt. Flavour is somewhat sweet, but in a good way in this case. Also some fruits like citrus, orange and raisin is detected combined with bready dark malt. Very smooth and enjoyable.

Pours a slightly dark brown color with a lasting creamy head. Sweet fruity smell with notes of caramel. Flavor is sweet, with notes of dark fruit with a hint of booze.

0.75 l bottle, thanks Sampo! Hazy mahagony color with long lasting creamy head. Sweet aroma with dark caramel, raisins and prunes, licorice, vanilla and restrained perfumed spiciness. Sweet raisiny and toffeish flavor with dark chocolate, licorice and gentle peppery spiciness. Medium body, not too filling. Balanced, pleasant and gently belgian. I can Imagine aging would add a nice deepness to this.

Bottle at a tasting. Thanks Oren. Murky brown. Aroma of dark fruits, malt, yeast, candi sugar, caramel, light licorice notes, a bit of alcohol and some spiciness. Sweet malty flavor, a bit alcoholic, with fruits, dark bread and a dry and slightly spicy finish. Medium-bodied. Decent.

750ml bottle (Kaisla, Helsinki)
6 Mixed up and messed up aroma. Very spicy.
4 Deep reddy brown, reasonable head.
5 Slightly ionic taste. Liquoricey and sweet.
2 Sticky texture, but astringent too. OK carbonation. Liquoricey finish.
9 Stodgy. Mixed up. Maybe needs a few years of mellowing?

{thoughts} Bright and nimble dark Belgian strong ale; ingredient qualities feel to outshine yeast characteristics; alcohol bitterness detracts.

{elements} Dark, clear mahogany; tall, light tan cream. Caramel and dates, kola nut and heather in the aroma; spicy and airy nature; late arriving rose, sage and clove over dark toffee. Bright, spicy, soda flavors with a big carbonic acidity and a broad floral aftertaste; moderately sweet, powerfully acidic, bitterness lurking in the background. Mild alcohol bitterness, strong carbonation, slick texture, medium body. 75 cl bottle.
