COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Here in Brooklyn we’ve combined European malt and hops, Belgian dark sugar, and raw wildflower honey from a New York family farm to create Brooklyn Local 2. Our special Belgian yeast adds hints of spice to the dark fruit, caramel, and chocolate flavors. After 100% bottle re-fermentation, this ale reveals a marvelous dry complexity, enjoyable by itself or at the dinner table.

I’m not entirely sure what was going on here, but I did like it. Not much hop, but rather smooth malt and a lot of mellow flavors throughout. VERY easy drinking for a high abv beer, so watch that. Not what I usually go for, but enjoyable.

Great caramel malts. Reminds me of Chimay Blue, but I think I prefer this. Could see this going really well at the dinner table with spicy food, especially mole or Indian, due to the body and sweetness or with a pork loin or roasted chicken.

Sampled at GABF on 9/17/2010. This Belgian Strong Ale pours a light brown color from a 750ml bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity, yeasty and sweet. A medium bodied Belgian Strong Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet, lots of apricots and peaches. The hops are herbal. Lively carbonation. Nice balance. Very drinkable. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet.

750ml bottle bought in Providence. Pours a cloudy dark brown color with foamy tan head and nice lace. Aroma is a nice sweet malt and bready yeast combination. Flavor is sweet malt, dried fruit, figs, and bready yeast, Citrus peel bitter slightly noticeably, alcohol noticeable but not overpowering.
