COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Here in Brooklyn we’ve combined European malt and hops, Belgian dark sugar, and raw wildflower honey from a New York family farm to create Brooklyn Local 2. Our special Belgian yeast adds hints of spice to the dark fruit, caramel, and chocolate flavors. After 100% bottle re-fermentation, this ale reveals a marvelous dry complexity, enjoyable by itself or at the dinner table.

Bottle and served in my Duval snifter: Mahogany hued with an initial big frothy head which settles and left clinging lace upon the glassware. The aroma has lots of fruity vapours of orange peel, apricots, and fig along with bog myrtle and expected resiny and herbal hop bitters, some pumpernickel (dark rye) and wheat husk, along with a bit of pickle, minerally and earthy yeast contributions. The taste is slightly soured, moderately bittered and fruity with a background of German Dark Bread and American Sourdough. There is a dash of nutty and Special B malts playing around the edges. The mouth feel is aggressive let refined but I must say does seem to be a bit overpowered by the alcohol after awhile. All things equal, I like the complexity of this brew but it just stopped short of a rave. Worth the monies once if you ask me.

LtDan (1415) - Los Angeles County, California, USA - MAY 5, 2010
Appearance: Pours a reddish brown with a tight creamy cap.

Aroma: Honey, orange blossom, dark fruit and a hint of milk chocolate.

Taste: Spicy yeast, chocolate, honey finishing with spicy hops.

Mouthfeel: Sticky and fizzy.

Overall: The main event of any tasting. An amazing bold, balanced complex beer. Not too sweet, not to thick not to thin. I love this beer.

Brown pour with thick whitish head. Candy brown sugar nose and flavor. Dry finish is a little surprising. Alcohol is a bit too noticeable though. Rated 1/23/10

brown with thick off-white head. nose of belgian esters and a bit of alcohol. flavor is all belgian esters, with dark candi sugar like notes. a bit of alcohol that is distracting before a bone dry finish. very nice belgian dark strong, the alcohol only distracts though, providing little depth. it might benefit from a bit of age, but overall a very nice version

Bottle. Brown pour with a good amount of tan head. A little lighter than the typical abbey double, but a brown belgian with some orange, spices and candy sugar notes.

Bart (2332) - Brussels, BELGIUM - APR 11, 2010
Hazy brown coloured beer, clearly not filtered. Small off white head and medium carbonation. Light caramel sweet, raisin hinted aroma. Full palate. Finish is full malty, light roasted and fruity (ripe fruits) touched.
