Here in Brooklyn we’ve combined European malt and hops, Belgian dark sugar, and raw wildflower honey from a New York family farm to create Brooklyn Local 2. Our special Belgian yeast adds hints of spice to the dark fruit, caramel, and chocolate flavors. After 100% bottle re-fermentation, this ale reveals a marvelous dry complexity, enjoyable by itself or at the dinner table.

Oh my dang! It's so good! Seriously every bottle is slightly different but it's very delicious. It pairs well with a fatty meal such as ribeye steak, marinated in crown and pineapple. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A 93-97(user - critic rating) is WAY too high IMO. If we were comparing American beers, then this rating MAY suffice; however, this is a similar rating to a Maredsous, Gulden Draak, Kasteel, Chimay, etc, etc. What this beer lacks is weight. It feels like it has all the right ingredients to make a BSDA, but lacks in the potency of flavor. A cheap imitation, in my book.

This beer was served too cold which ruined the taste initially. Once it warmed, it shined! The malty, dark fruit flavors were very apparent and the 9% was oh so smooth. Not a lot of lacing but the finish left me wanting more. BBL2 was a true winner in my book and ranks with the best...

Hazy brown color , good beige head. Aroma of dark fruits , yeast , spices and malt. Balanced taste of malt , fruits , some citrus , honey. Very gentle beer , especially for beer with 9 % ABV.

A Brooklyn Local so good it seems to have altogether stopped the series. Sometimes, diving into a large bottle can be daunting, but this one is truly smooth, with great honeyish elements that I find hard to refrain from angrily chugging. Fridge beers come and fridge beers go, but this is a stand-by, almost always on hand for me and my thirst. That’s all.

Dark brown pour, solid tan head. Nose is yeast, dark fruit, and a splash of alcohol. Bittersweet. Middle is cherries and dark roasted malt. Finish shows a bit more alcohol, and some lightly woody hop character. Went really nice with a pork barley stew.

Poured from a 750ml bottle into a chalice. A - brew smells fruity, spicy, a bit malty, and boozy. A - Pours beautifully. Very dark Amber and an appropriate level of murkiness for a Belgian. The light tan head looks silky as ever! T - taste is fruity and boozy up front, which continues through the middle of the sip while revealing some maltiness. The finish reflects spices and a hint of pine. P - Feels wonderful in my mouth! Beer is full-bodied with a tight carbonation. Smooth, but very bubbly. O - Definitely a great beer. I am a very big fan of Belgian ales and this one didn’t disappoint. It’s true to the Belgian strong dark ale style--Big, fruity, spicy, and boozy. It doesn’t push the style’s boundaries by any means. But I don’t think that’s what the brewers at Brooklyn set out to do with this beer. So with that, I consider this beer a success! "Never turn your back on your beer."
