COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Here in Brooklyn we’ve combined European malt and hops, Belgian dark sugar, and raw wildflower honey from a New York family farm to create Brooklyn Local 2. Our special Belgian yeast adds hints of spice to the dark fruit, caramel, and chocolate flavors. After 100% bottle re-fermentation, this ale reveals a marvelous dry complexity, enjoyable by itself or at the dinner table.

Bottle as shown. Pours a dark cloudy brown with a large creamy light tan head that lasts awhile leaving good sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is a fruity yeast with light malt and brown sugar. Medium mouthfeel with a brown sugar malt with yeast and nice spicy finish. A very good belgian strong ale from Brooklyn.

Bottle. Pours a brown, hazy color with a very large, frothy white head. Lacing is weak. Aromas of candy, bananas, malts, and citrus. Creamy palate to start, a smooth mouthfeel, and a clean finish. Flavors of malts, citrus, and I get just a bit of the honey as the aftertaste. Good beer that was enjoyable.

A very special bottle from EDA, thanks. Dark pour, almost black, with some beige head. Aroma is some light toffee / chocolate, belgian yeast, and some pit fruit. Flavor is the same, with a hint of sugary sweetness, and the yeast lingers in the finish.

Huge thick, foamy head. Slow to dissipate. Chunky lace. Very cloudy liquid, dark brown, but light does shine through. Brown sugar with lightly toasted white bread aroma. Lots of yeast. Overall, very malty with a strong alcohol kick. Rich body with ample carbonation. Smooth to drink The yeast is quite present. An vanilla ice cream-like finish. Long alcohol trail after the swallow.

The Dan Journal #278. Tasted 7/29/09. 750ml bottle. Hazy with an amber brown hue. Finger width of khaki head. Candy yeast aromas with a splash of cherries. Full bodied with a good malt note. Bright cola effervescence. Solid yeast character. Mildly peppery with a nod to the Belgian tradition. Solid.

Bottle. Pours a murky dark brown with a lovely dense frothy beige head. Fruity spicy trappist yeast aroma that is overpowered by cola. Flavor follows, trappist yeast and cola, good but straight forward and lacking depth. Body is on the thinner side, nice medium corse but fluffy carbonation. It’s okay.

UPDATED: NOV 11, 2009 1 pt. 9.4 oz. served in trappist glass- mmmbeer with the review, the poor bastard (from a close friend (3rd person)- not to say that he’s a poor bastard, but... nevermind. A loud audible pop form the top like champagne, settled within a few minutes Clumps of frog eyes upon the liquid surface for a head, aroma of brown sugar, yeast, and malt- but something is not right. Hits the mouth with high-medium body, malt is there, various fruit sensations are there, but something still doesn’t seem right. Lingers like a Dubbel, NO booze burn but, something just doesn’t seem right...
