Bottle 750ml from King&Godfree. Exceptional yeast-driven beer. Aromas of caramel, chocolate, dough, and butter. Taste is sweet, with sour notes, and very long length. Palate is creamy, and full bodied. Dark brown, with a frothy head.

The cork shot out the instant the cage was off, interesting. The pour is a dark murky mahogany brown with a mostly opaque body. A dense finger of yellowish beige head. Some light carbonation and massive lacing. The nose is sweet with a note of honey and nutty, chewy toffee malts. A hint of alcohol as well as a distinct yeast and light fruity esters. A prominent citrus and spice aroma. The taste is atypical with a sweet honeyed middle and dark toasty malts, dark fruits and lemon ring. A light subtle Belgian yeast with light esters. A finish of light, dry grassy hops and a hint of warm alcohol. Silkly smooth, big tasting beer. This one is awesome.

Bottle pours Muddy brown with a big resilient light tan head. Caramel, grainy, bready, floral, grassy and chocolate notes. Very nice slick oatmeal mouthfeel, wheat and chocolate overtones with a nice complexity from the yeast strain. Creamy delicate, yet complex finish.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 esox (686) - Oulu, FINLAND - NOV 10, 2011
Bottle, aged for about a year. Dark amber colour, frothy and lacy head. Interesting, complex nose mixes wine gums, kiwi, strawberries, cloves, fudge and alcohol. Medium sweet aroma has lots of dried fruits and berries, candi sugar and a hint of chocolatey matiness. Finishes yeasty, slightly sour and dry. Silky texture, medium body. Deviously drinkable beer.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 hawthorne00 (1307) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - NOV 5, 2011
Bottle. Clear very dark reddish brown with a large beige head. Aroma of plums, chocolate, spices. Quite sweet with plums and dried fruit, a touch of Port and lemon, chocolate, spices. The sweetness doesn’t hang about too long - the finish is pretty dry with just balancing bitterness. That and the quite (at first over-) carbonated mouthfeel make it very drinkable. German influenced. Elegant with nice balance and finish.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 keanex (191) - Williamstown, New Jersey, USA - NOV 1, 2011
Poured from a 750ml bottle into a tulip glass. Be careful when opening this, mine popped off simply when I untwisted it.
A: Deep brown/ruby almost opaque with active carbonation seen. Huge thick tan head which shows little signs of dissipating after a minute or two after pour. The head dissipates uneven and sticks to the side.
S: Rather strong fruity sweet smell. Citrus and honey are the big smells here with slight malts and caramel.
T: Really sweet with a sugary foretaste with citrus and caramel flavors in the middle with an alcohol finish. A lingering clove aftertaste goes down the throat. This is very fresh tasting and very easy to go down.
M: Medium bodied with a bit of a flat soda taste, despite the active carbonation bubbles.
O: This is a good beer, but it’s really polarizing since it’s sweet and is lacking carbonation. On one hand it tastes almost like a fresh tea with it’s raw sugar and fresh citrus taste and slight spices, and on the other hand it reminds me of a flat soda. I may buy this again and hope for a potentially less shaken up bottle as I feel it may have lost a lot of carbonation when opened.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 BeerChaser0078 (846) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - OCT 28, 2011
Bottle. Hazy dark brown pour with a lasting foamy tan head. Aroma is fairly malty with notes of chocolate, nuts, caramel, sultanas and a hint of lemony citrus. Flavour is very much like the aroma but with more fruitiness and a little more spice. Mouthfeel is surprisingly light and dry with lively carbonation and a long dry, spicy finish. This is a pretty good interpretation of a Belgian dark ale that is true to its inspiration but very easy to drink. Nice.
