Here in Brooklyn we’ve combined European malt and hops, Belgian dark sugar, and raw wildflower honey from a New York family farm to create Brooklyn Local 2. Our special Belgian yeast adds hints of spice to the dark fruit, caramel, and chocolate flavors. After 100% bottle re-fermentation, this ale reveals a marvelous dry complexity, enjoyable by itself or at the dinner table.

Bottle purchased Four Firkins. Smells reminiscent of caramel and chocolate. Deep mahogany in color. Taste of tart fruit with some undercurrent sweetness. Reminds me of a slightly less compelling Boulevard Sixth Glass. Good aftertaste. Little bit along three lines of a sour.

Pours a hazy dark amber with thick effervescent head. Not much on the nose, hints of alcohol, dark fruits, and pepper. Flavor is simplistic for this style. Currant, peppery spice, slight sweetness, warm alcohol. Mouthfeel is thin and bubbly. Simple flavors, no depth, surprisingly light drinking. Boring. --- Cheers

On the bottle: 2782 Mahogany brown with a quilt of toasted cream foam. Nose carries malt, clove, orange peel, toasted malts, a little soil, some tawny malt. Flavor is malt, some dark fruits, a dose of belgian yeast. A little bit of tea. Full bodied with fine, well intergrated carb and a semi dry finish. Nice beer.

FROM NOTES: July 27, ’12 Poured from a bomber into a tulip. A: Yeasty scent, pretty strong if you ask me, after laying the glass down you still feel it in your nose. A: Dark almost opaque brown, with a thick tan-white head on a gentle pour rising to about 3/4". T: Fruitiness takes on a more mature character - prunes and tart apples. Bready malts complement the dark fruit/molasses combination and give it some nice depth. Noticeable alcohol warmth combined with a surprising carbonic bite on the tongue make this one a sipper, but a pleasant one. P: Medium-full body with moderately-high carbonation. Typical Belgian style. O: A fantastically solid beer. The tastes leave something to be desired - there is a complexity missing that would make this brew truly excellent, but alas. Still, it is quite good.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
