75cl bottle. Dark chestnut color with a weak off-white head. The aroma shows some alcohol warmth, caramel, dried fruit, and grape juice. The flavor is sweet with lots of toffee and a grape fruitiness. Finishes a little hot and boozy. Highly carbonated and medium bodied. "That’s so random!" said a better woman than I. illidurit gets it. Not bad, but a little muddled and hot.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 fastcarjoe (8) - Morton Grove, Illinois, USA - MAR 3, 2009 does not count
Aroma is nutty, toasty, roasty, with a hint of citrus and a sweet honey whiff. Appearance is brown in color with a slight red tinge, slightly cloudy. Head is white in color, not as frothy and creamy as I had hoped. Flavor is tart at first, slight citrus, and then a very small Belgian sugar after note. On the palate, it is full bodied with noticeable carbonation. Finish has slight hoppyness, but in summation, this beer isn’t living up to the hype. I was looking for a nice, sweet, Belgium inspired, creamy brew. I’ll get a Trappist quad next time and not be disappointed. Reminded me of Unibroue vintage ale at Trader Joe’s, but at least that’s cheaper.

This is a bit heavy on the palate, with the sweetness you expect from a Belgian style ale. Good floral aroma and has a moderate amount of head. It’s a little cloudy, but that’s expected.
