COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Here in Brooklyn we’ve combined European malt and hops, Belgian dark sugar, and raw wildflower honey from a New York family farm to create Brooklyn Local 2. Our special Belgian yeast adds hints of spice to the dark fruit, caramel, and chocolate flavors. After 100% bottle re-fermentation, this ale reveals a marvelous dry complexity, enjoyable by itself or at the dinner table.

750ml bottle purchased at Whole Foods in Portland, Maine. Pours a murky red-brown body with nearly two inches of persistent khaki-colored head. Citrus and pith come through loud and clear in the aroma, with hints of brown sugar, chocolate, and toffee. Citrus and pith hit early, with a sweet orange juice quality, followed by some brown sugar with chocolate notes and a tinge of roastiness to balaince things out. Medium bodied with full effervescent carbonation (no doubt from bottle conditioning). Relatively dry and clean toward the finish. Overall, a great Belgian strong dark. Not the best I’ve had, but an extremely good drinkable one (despite the complexity and ABV), and a suitable follow-up to Brooklyin Local 1! Awesome

Bottle from Standard Market. Much darker than expected, mahogany hue. Very effervescent. Aroma is awesome, licorice, spice, cherry compote, fruitcake, gingerbread, its just everywhere. Taste is rich, starts with light chocolate, then more spice, gingersnap cookie, more cherry, with a honey backbone. Prickly carbonation pairs perfectly with the creamy cana de cabra cheese we’re having. Alcohol comes forward in the finish, I didn’t find it as dry as advertised. This beer is outstanding. Best I have had in a long time.

Bottle from the Braufactum range. Dark amber with a large frothy head. Aroma is fruity malt. Flavour is tangy, spice and light caramel with a soft berry finish. Finish is dry sweet on a long palate

Had to get this one after having the chocolate stout. Smelled sweet and yeasty, with lots of citrus and honey-oat. The taste was delicate and complex, mostly of sweet malts and biscuits. Finished mellow and a tad dry - simply another good job by the Brooklyn brewery.

With a light semi-sweet malty flavor as it is sipped and leaves a slight bitter after taste. Enjoyable in the fall/winter time with or without something to eat. An especially foamy head tops off this tasty ale

This was a very nice BSA with a good dark color and nice amount of head that lasted very long. Taste was sweet candies and honey, good warmth.

Shared bottle at local tasting, thanks to Sigmund. Pours dark amber/brown with a small tanned head. Spice and yeast in the aroma. Taste is moderate sweet malty, well hidden alcohol.

750 ml "champagne"-corked bottle, shared at local tasting, thanks to Sigrid S. ABV is 9%. Brown colour, large off-white head. Sweetish aroma, some stale notes, not impressive. Medium sweet flavour, fruity, some stale notes again, a bit disappointing.

A mahogany colored brew, nice head, smooth carbonation with sheets of lacing that run down my glass and rejoin the brew. Smell is really nice, sweet dark fruits, yeast, spices, caramel malts, a little chocolate. Taste is very spot on for what I expected. Great spiciness, plenty of dark and mid fruit flavors, nicely yeasty, quite sweet yet strangely dry all at the same time. Downright delicious. Feel is medium bodied with smooth carbonation, a lightly bitter, fruity aftertaste lingers. Drink is good. I like this beer. For my first try of this brewery, I certainly want to try Brooklyn’s other offerings too.
