4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 hotstuff (3249) - USA - MAY 18, 2009
UPDATED: MAY 19, 2009 Bottle at J.K. O’Donnell’s Irish Ale House (Fort Wayne, IN) - Corked and caged bottle. Small tan head with excellent retention, one ring of lacing, opaque, no visible carbonation, and a dark brown hue. The aroma came together very nicely-malt, caramel, dark fruits, spicy, and some notes of honey . The flavor was not to be outdone-malty, caramel, some notes of honey, dark fruits, spicy, and the ABV was present but not overly so at 9%. Tingly mouthfeel and medium bodied. This is one heck of a great beer and hats off to the people at Brooklyn Brewery! Wow a very, very nice beer indeed! Nicely balanced and a sipping beer for sure IMO. More than worthy of a try, would drink this again if it comes my way, and this is not a beer to be taken lightly. A beer I will remember for a long tiime. More please!

750 ml bottle. Pours dark brown with a long lasting off-white head and a lot of lacing. Yeasty aroma follows by chocolate, dark fruit and hints of hops. Body is full and smooth. Chocolate, dark fruit spices, Belgium yeast, brown sugar, earthy hops fill the mouth. Finish is long and very spicy. Complex, delicious brew.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Palme (1437) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAY 22, 2012
From 0.75l bottle @ Ølfestival København 2012. This is a near clear dark copper beer. It has a big and almost fluffy off-white head that sticks around. Not to extreme on the aroma, some caramel, branches, cocoa beans, yeast and alcohol. Average carbonated and it has a oily texture. Light sweet flavors, I get flowers, dark caramel - the kinda sticky one with some chocolate paper near the finish. Tasty and not bad at all! Liked this one 10.05.2012

Pours a very dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma is sweet malt, caramel, toffee, dark fruits with hints of yeast and alcohol. Taste is also sweet malt with fruit, caramel and toffee leading to sweet fruity and yeasty finish. Very nice, a bit better than the Local 1 I think.

This is a bit heavy on the palate, with the sweetness you expect from a Belgian style ale. Good floral aroma and has a moderate amount of head. It’s a little cloudy, but that’s expected.
