JW77 hooks it up again! Amber pour. Cherries, herbal notes, and light caramel. Flavor has a bit too much cherries but the beer has some interesting herbal notes, fruity esters and some light yeast.

Tap at hopleaf... Pours a semi-cloudy caramel and raisin brown with a thin crey light beige head... Dark fruit, spices, and a splash of cherry make up the nose... Bready caramel malt with dark fruit accents and a touch of earth in the finish. Slightly spiced with a hint of wood. Medium carbonation and body. Fairly unique.

Growler from Big Z Beverage. Pours brown with a small white head. Aroma of cherry syrup and light spices. Flavor is also cherry with some spicy rye in the finish. Not your typical s/h/v but it’s a pretty decent, tasty beer. Not sure where the cherry comes from, but it’s the strongest flavor/aroma in this beer. 7/4/7/4/15 [3.7/5]

On tap at Delaneys. Fruity malt aroma. Dark amber or light brown color with a large tan head. Fruity beginning that is slightly tropical. Fades slowly in the finish and I don’t want it to go. Great beer.

Growler from Big Z. Poured a red-amber color with a cream colored head. Sweet and malty with notes of cherry, rye and some spices/herbs. It smells a little like Mr Pibb. Fruity flavor with cherry and a rye finish. Some warmth. Smooth mouthfeel on a light-medium body. Light warmth.

Draft at Redlight. Pours a cherry red brown, slightly thick with a thin white head. Tart orange, spicy rye and notes of cherry in the aroma. Taste is a lot of the same, bitter orange, smooth malt, some spiciness. Very interesting blend of flavors that I think work well in a beer.

Draft at Redlight Redlight. The pours yields a clear crimson to cherrywood colored body with a small, neat head of light khaki foam. Scattered spots and feathery lace mark the glass. The aroma is pretty spot-on, smelling very much like a Manhattan, with big, spicy rye and sweet cherry notes, along with hints of vanilla, wood, and caramel. Flavors are largely the same, malty and carmely, with a sharp rye whiskey overtone, oak, and sweet maraschino cherries. The palate is smooth, but slightly syrupy and boozy, finishing quite warm. It’s a good brew. I’m not a huge fan of the cocktail, as I’m not big on sweet cherries or vermouth, but this beer captured everything pretty well and did so in an enjoyable way.

Draft at RedLight. Dark amber. Small off white head. A ton of rye, rye whiskey, barrel, fruity spices. Same flavors with some herbal notes, more booze, and some bitterness. Very much like a beer version of a manhattan. Medium/full body, softly balanced carbonation. Unique, enjoyable brew.

Really nice brew even though it’s not completely my style. Aroma is spices with some cinnamon. Flavor is spicy with some fruits coming through and a slight hoppiness.

Growler fill from Whole Foods Upper West Side. Pours a deep reddish brown with a thin off-white head. Aroma is largely cinnamon, though I also detected clove, a bit of wood, and a slight wisp of cherry. Taste is cinnamon and clove up front exploding into a complex array of flavors including cherry, grain (rye), and wood. The finish is sublimely smooth, with no indication this beer is anywhere near 8.5% ABV. So offbeat, so complex, so utterly wonderful - best thing, by far, I’ve ever had from Brooklyn.
