On tap at Brass Tap in Wesley Chapel, FL. Pours clear amber with copper edges and firm tall tan head. The aroma is very malty and sugary sweet with spiciness and rye swirling around. The taste begins sweet and creamy becoming very very full with rye, spices and a solid sweet wheat like sensation. Full force flavor here. I wonder how it will age. I’m guessing it will be yum.

On draft at RFD in Chinatown, DC. Pours a hazy orange with a nice head. Taste is rye with very obviously barrel aging, but in Vermouth barrels? Definitely points for something new. This is one of those beers you drink once, loved it, and never want to drink again.

2009 Bottle - Thanks goryscheywch! - Pours a hazy brown with a large beige head...aroma is floral herbs and spicy oak, sweet and sour...flavour is similar, whiskey oak, pit fruit, some bready yeast and an underlying fruity sweet/sour thing that I really dug...Really enjoyed it!

Samples from a growler shared by shigadeyo. Thanks Craig!. Pours a hazy dark amber color with a small off white head. Seemed to be thicker as it poured. The aroma had sweet caramelized malt, sweet fruity cherry (marachino ?), and rye bourbon. The flavor opens with a burst of cherry that dissipates to a malty rye influenced dry but sweet brew. As this warms, the cherry comes back with some caramel, toasted malts, and vanilla. The alcohol peeks at times. Medium bodied and smooth. I love getting to try the Brooklyn Reserve series beers, as they are at minimum interesting, and usually pretty good.

Growler (1 of 3) purchased at De Ciccio’s in Ardsley NY. Appearance: Deep garnet to brown body with minimal off white crown. No retention or lace. The body is slightly radiant and attractive. Smell: Nice notes of vermouth, cherry, lush malt, some type of spice...seems like cinnamon, bitters, etc. Lots going on here. Taste: A touch malty up front but that quickly gives way to the spice, bitters, and vermouth. A light cherry syrup makes an appearance towards the end. Mouthfeel: A touch under carbonated but that is probably due to the growler being a week old. As I got towards the bottom of the growler the carbonation concentration seemed to increase. The last few pours even had an off white crown and showed some lace! Drinkability: Fairly good and probably would have been better when the brew was fresh. Definitely pushes the envelope of what beer is. I’ll lift my glass...here’s to you Mr. Oliver! Jesus loves you more than you will know...oh wo wo wo. Serving type: growler Reviewed on: 10-09-2009

Cloudy brown beer. Frothy biscuit coloured head. Lightly sour nose. Soft and dry palate. Immediate sour fruity herbs. Sour enough to raise an eyebrow but nowhere near pucker levels. The Vermouth herbs and spices really sing through and complement the sourness. The finish is soft and dry and redolent of Vermouth. Fruity, lightly herby and spicy and unusual. Pretty good!

Draught. I actually thought this was a pumpkin ale. Anyway it was nice and spicy and good. Poured brown with cinnamon.
