3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- 2012 bottle. Hazy dark amber with a thin rim head, thin streamers of lace. Mild aroma of malt and caramel. Taste is strong dark toasted malt with fruit cake candied fruit and light spice that becomes only moderately hopped on the swallow, with the malt taking over again for a long finish. Big, bold, very tasty, but a lot to deal with. Recommended.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A few years vintage. Into a snifter at cellar temperature. Misted, chestnut orange, still with no head after a short settle. There is plump, pale stonefruit and caramelised citrus on the nose along with notes of pear, Sauvignon grapes, sherry, soft alcohol spice. On the palate it is sherryish, vinous, boozy and slightly buttery with enough caramelised fruit to keep it lifted. Sweet, fortified notes, Muscat and Moscato, dwindle long between heated sips. Light perfume. Moderate carbonation shifts its medium body along nicely. Slow sipping stuff, but nothing complex here. Wanted more as I love this brewery. (35,5cL, BBE 11/14, Mane Liquor, Belmont)

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Initial tasting of a fresh bottle left me disappointed. Found it almost medicinal in nature. Retried a 2012 bottle and found it to be quite good. Alcohol has mellowed as expected and the melding of flavours makes it quite enjoyable. Pperfect amount of carbonation for the style. Surprisingly. Good retention with respect to the lacing. Wouldn’t recommended this as a fresh botle which I guess won’t be an issue since it is retired. Couple xyesrs makes a world of. Difference. Mostly caramel and dark fruits. At one point I swear I picked up a hint of cherry in the finish.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2012 bottle. Pours a clear, bright ruby/caramel with a ring of a head. Aroma is sweeter with big caramel, bread, dark fruits, and almost a brandy barrel. Taste is sweet but balanced. Bready biscuit with caramel, dark fruits, and a bit of fruityness, probably from the yeast. Medium-full body with a medium carbonation. A but syrupy in the mouth with a mild alcohol warmth. Overall very tasty. Caramel and dark fruits with a great mouth feel.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled in 2007. So it is a 7 year old beer. Color is murky brown caramel. Little to no lacing. Aroma is amazing. Caramel, figs, vanilla, toffee. Flavor is similar. Caramel, figs, toffee. As expected, very little hop presence. Slight hop finish. Very slight. Almost cask-beer mouthfeel. Can’t believe how well this held up. Awesome.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle 330ml. Hazy reddish-orange with small beige head. Quite intense sweet aroma, raisin, fruity (peach, apricot), syrupy, dulce de leche, some herbs, faint onion notes, some alcohol notes. Very sweet flavor, bourbon, quite alcoholic, sugary, raisin notes, some fruitiness, milky, syrupy, slightly buttery. Creamy texture, light carbonation, medium to full-bodied. Very good although it’s too sweet.
