3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A rough brown color with an off white head. The aroma is mild and the front flavors are bold. The body is smooth but missing that normal sweetness of a barley wine. Instead there is a bit more floral hops. The finish lingers with a hint of tartness.

UPDATED: OCT 15, 2013 Tasting at a beer event in Oct 2013 at Fado on Philly. Out of a bottle. Rich but smooth. Clear amber pour. Warm and soothing. Great aroma. Full palate. Good mix of hop and malt. Not overly sweet. Great amber barleywine. Well aged and smooth. Pretty great actually.

This beer has a sweet smell of cherry and roasted malt, with a deep amber color, with hardly any head to it. Tastes sweet and rich of roasted malt, caramel and a little hint of coffee bitterness.

Sweet and dry ale. It is a full-bodied ale with a good strong flavor. Caramel, cherries, fir, and a alcohol base. Long-lasting aftertaste.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from mane liquor. Pours a dark hazy red/ruby with minimal head. Nose is full of booze, caramel sugar and egrassy hops. Massive chunk of caramel bitterness coming through! Taste is like a syrupy caramel hopped juice. Booze is actually hidden well in the taste. Clinging dry bitterness. Fucking gets you very pissed this stuff. Probably one of the better Brooklyn beers I've had.

Bottle. Pours hazy amber-brown with a small head. Aroma of caramel, dark fruits and alcohol. Taste - strongly bitter-sweet, earthy, honey, caramel malt and alcoholic notes. Medium body, med carbonation, pretty heavy. Rich and complex though alcoholic dominance is a bit over the top for me .

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nose: is toffee, apple, sherry, sugar slight under note of Manchego. Taste is cherry, toffee, caramel, little marzipan, a hoppy citrus note overlaying with a little resin in the finish. Lovely alcohol warmth.
A nice drink, but I always find the American use of hops not quite to my taste in barley wines.

2012 Bottle from Giant Eagle Express in Indiana. Pours red/brown with off white/cream head. From where I sit I already smell bourbon and vaporous alcohol. Lots of brown sugar and caramel. Flavor is alcohol masked in caramel and brown sugar, some other candies, maybe butterscotch. Opens up a bit as it breathes, but still an alcohol bite accented by some hop bitterness. A nice aggressive barley wine.
