LanceUppercut (104), Sweden Aug 22, 2009 This was an old bottle ) that hadn’t aged very gracefully. A faint nose of strawberries, cake and malt. Taste is of raisins, anis, cookies and a little bit of hops. It is sweet and has some complexity, but the overall impression is (sadly) nothing that raises any eyebrows. Ygberg (82), Sweden Aug 21, 2009 A 2004 bottle tasted in 2009. Weak aroma of sweet malt. Apperance is dark red without head. The flavour is of licrish and malt, a bit to sweet. The alcohol is shining threw. Maybe the bottle is to old. onystrom (741), Århus-Randers Crew, Denmark Aug 18, 2009 Bottle. Hazy brown amber color with almost no head. Strong and very sweet. Lots of caramel and some hoppy flavor. Alcoholic aftertaste. JK (2944), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Aug 9, 2009 Not as complex as I was hoping for. The aroma leads one to expect a sweet barley wine. There is brown sugar, and just a little oak. Quite sweet with caramel and brown sugar; very mild hops, and alcohol, which is present in the aroma, flavor, and on the palate. boamr (112), Pennsylvania, USA Aug 8, 2009 Thanks to Richlikebeer for this one. Bottle from 05. Pours a brown color but not a super dark brown with no head. Has a spicey molasses smell and flavor to it. For some reason there was a metallic taste on the finish. Not sure if it was from the bottle or the beer was past it’s prime. Would liek to have another one alobar (1006), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 8, 2009 Thanks to richlikebeer. 2005 bottle. Pours a caramel brown color with no head. Aroma of spice, malts, and some fruit. A slight metallic taste took away from an otherwise pleasant offering of molasses, fruit, and sherry.
