Aroma is mostly the alcohol. It is a very drinkable barley wine. radiomgb (1957), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 2, 2007 Deep mahogany in colour, thin off-white coloured head, no lacing. The aroma is quite alcoholic, some caramel malts, citrus hops, quite sweet. The flavour is quite alcoholic and warming, fruity, caramel malts, dark fruits, moderate hop bite. Warming mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes very long, warming with a moderate sweetness. Even after 3 years this is still quite hot. Doesn’t pack a punch or the flavour of the top tier Barley Wines.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 30, 2007 VERY decent barleywine. From the bottle pours dark ruby, almost no head to speak of. Nose is heavy on the raisins, significant malt backbone, strong sherry, a bit of citrus to round it out. Taste is similar, with heavy vinous notes. Alcohol is only really detectable in the last two or three sips. Quite enjoyable. decaturstevo (1980), decatur, Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 26, 2007 An aroma of dried fruit. A clean amber pour with little or no head. A flavor that is a little on the mediciny side. A bit of dried fruit a decent bitter finish. Pretty warm but not hardly hot, but the beer I’m drinking is pretty cool right now. A palate that is solid carbonation tries to be foamy but is not. A pretty good BW across the board. hopslovin (180), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 15, 2007 2005 Bottle. Deep amber pour with tan head that diminishes quickly into halo of lace. Smells of alchol and malt. A bit of fruitiness on the initial taste. Some carmel and sweet malt as well. Hop bite is not very present. A little thin on the mouthfeel. A little heat in the finish. Ok, but this could probably still be put down for a few more years to develop. Goodgrief (1148), Middletown, Delaware, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 15, 2007 June 2005 - Beer poured a clear deep amber with huge head. Nice lacing on glass as well. This beer does a fine job of masking the alcohol content, but it’s just too darned sweet for me. No distinguishable hop presence and just overwhelming sugar artificially sweet taste. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 14, 2007 This monster ale was born in 2006 and shared with Taylor on August 13th, 2007. Pours a dark amber with a little, flimsy white head. Nose is sweet malts, vanilla, toffee, a little alcohol, caramel, some nuts. Flavor is very smooth, alcohol hardly noticed, sweet caramel, more vanilla, hardly any hop presence. This drank a lot easier than I expected. Alcohol very well hidden and controlled. Not the most complex for the style, but certainly a worthy candidate.
