Marsiblursi (1631), Göteborg, Sweden Aug 4, 2006 Updated: Feb 8, 2007(Botttle from 2004, Thanks to Thaichile) Pours orange/gold/red. Aroma of malt/barley, alcohol and acetone. Some hops and notes of nuts, toffee butter, vanilla and other spices. A swedish old-school glue called Björnklister. Sweet allmond paste. Wet sand. Alcohol numbing mouthfeel. Peppery, fruity flavour with bitter allmond to allmond paste and hints of mushrooms and cherries. Too young. BeerHeadBobby (142), In Hiding.., Florida, USA Aug 2, 2006 Tried this from a bottle purchased at Total Wine in Raleigh.. Im a big fan recently of barleywines.. This pours a thick dark amber red... smell is of sweet caramel and alcohol... Taste is rather thick but typical of this type of beer.. its sweet with a bitter kick and u can taste the alcohol and spices - Overall a decent barleywine but nothing is jumping out at me.. but a good drinkin barleywine.. KingpinIPA (842), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jul 26, 2006 Updated: Aug 10, 2007Copper/red color. Smell of caramel, prunes, rasins, apples, hops, malt, spice, and alcohol. It almost smells like those orange candy circus peanuts. My wife took a wiff and said it smelled like red wine and french onion soup? I know shes crazy, but shes good in bed. Wow! What a first sip! Tastes of fruit, malt, alcohol, spice, hops and a sweet, dry bitterness that lingers. This warms your body up! Great barley wine. I could have this over and over again. JB175 (1654), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 25, 2006 Updated: Jan 27, 2008Apple smell. Very sweet, a little tart, alcohol taste a bit more prevalent than I prefer, but overall a good easy-drinkin barleywine. BitchesBrew (710), Berkeley, California, USA Jul 24, 2006 [2005 bottle] Pours a clear ruby/amber color- a short white head makes a brief appearance. Aroma is mostly alcohol and sweet sugar. Flavors are sort of low on the malt end of things, heavy on the spicy, bitter elements. Some fruit, like apple and citrus. I feel this would be a bit more balanced if it had a lower ABV. gnoff (3559), Göteborg, Sweden Jul 15, 2006 Updated: Oct 12, 2008First rating Monster Ale 2004. Sampled from 12 fl oz bottle courtesy of Marsiblursi.
Clear brown color with a tan head.
Lots of alcohol in the scent, some of the barley wine style classic notes as well. Also a little bit fruity smell.
Taste is hidden by the alcohol, it stunnes the taste buds.
Big mouthfeel with medium high bitterness.
Pepper and bitter after taste.
Might win on being laid down for a while, see if the taste can evolve from the alcohol some. 6/3/6/4/11=3.0

Alcohol and citrus hops in the nose, more like a strong ale. There is some caramel, tea, hops and alcohol in the flavors. Very hot and somewhat boozy. Reminds me of a North Coast Old Stock Ale, but not as good. Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 9, 2006 Bottle. Light clear amber color. Smells of fruit and carmel. Thick and sticky with carmel, fruit, and mild hop flavors. Smooth alcohol finish.
