dirkules (611), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 3, 2007 A very thick, sweet, beer. Lots of raisins and caramel, with a brandy like quality and hints of port. Did I mention this was quite sweet, with some alcohol in the finish. Intensly rich and malty, quite a big beer. Overwhelming in relation to the other Brooklyns I’ve had.
thickfreakness (63), Austin, Texas, USA Sep 6, 2008 Thanks to Tayner for this extra. Pours a dark amber with an off white head that lasts for a while and leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Caramel, vanilla, raisins, biting alcohol, and citrus on the nose. Flavor is caramel and citrus with some raisin and booze. Slight bit of oxidized (cardboard) flavor. A nice citrus hoppy finish. Prickly carbonation and a medium to syrupy body. A decent barleywine. Linnet (14), , Sweden Aug 31, 2008 Deep reddish colour, small off white head. Fruity warming spicy malty aroma.
Flavor, citrus, pine some maltiness a very warming after taste. A very well rounded unassuming barley wine that growes on you the more you drink of it. nqualls (205), Tennessee, USA Aug 28, 2008 Poured reddish brown with a small off white head. Aroma was alcohol and dark fruit. Flavor was sweet with dark fruit and warming alcohol. Good beer. mirjukka (379), LOHJA, Finland Aug 27, 2008 bottle 355ml 4€ at Pikkulintu Helsinki 250808 shared with JK54B.Thanks!

Taste: Vintage. Kick of pine and grapefruit spicy ginger then dried fruits sweetness and hops in aftertaste. I was warned by staff to take this last of the night ,you can’t taste anything after that. True but this I want more. JK54B (301), Finland Aug 25, 2008 Updated: Aug 26, 2008A reddish brown colour. Some hints of prunes and maltiness in the nose. Nice sweetness and dried figs and licorice in the taste. The taste is coming better and better during ageing. A bottle at Pikkulintu shared with Mirjukka.
