Dark red pour, cascades from 12oz bottle, medium head. Beautifully complex, full of malt and hop which lingers on the palate.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Honestly said I expected way more. Way more fruits, way more deepness, way more grapes, way more deepness. This one is drinkable, it is quaffy, but it lacks some aromas I expected. Yet, it has its berries and alcohol, some raisins and nuts. But not enough of them. Or maybe not enough to make that one more enjoyable.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours out of the bottle in a hazy brown colour with low airy head and medium to smooth body. Aroma of raisins and barley. Taste of raisins, rum, plums, barley, hops, straw and dark berries. Light sour but also little bit thin and watery finish with lots of dried fruits in the end. Nice one but no excellent one.

Small bottle. Terrible label. Nose is metal, caramel, citrus. Flavour is metal and toffee, bitterness is well balanced but pretty metallic tbh.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, 18/04/14. Pours a rich and dark amber with a good-sized, off-white head. Aroma is somewhat vinous, loads of caramel, a bit sherry-like. Taste is a lot of caramel, stinginess, some pine, some dark fruitiness, fairly sweet, light salty liquorice. Full with medium carbonation. An alright barley wine, but nothing that really sets it apart.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Brooklyn Monster Ale is a classic barley wine, a style of ale originally brewed by the butlers to the English and American aristocracy. It is brewed from three mashes of heirloom British malt and spiced with aromatic American Willamette, Cascade and Fuggle hops.
After four months of aging, it has a magnificent burnished copper color, an aroma redolent of sherry, citrusy hops and fruit, a soft, warming, complex palate, a spiritous finish, and a strength of 10.8%.
It is vivacious when young, but will age gracefully for many years, becoming more complex over time.
Brooklyn Monster Ale is a fine accompaniment to cheeses, ice cream, flourless cakes, crème brulee and good cigars.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
From 2012 bottle. Dark, hazy orange. Thin head. Large, boozy nose of butterscotch candy, dried orange peel and mild smoke. Wet, yet viscous mouthfeel. Loads of malts, unflavored kvass, cheery liquor, and vanilla syrup. Everything is dessert wine sweet. A real sipper. Full bodied. Overall, more complex than it is good, but still enjoyable. An enjoyable end to an evening.
