3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a pretty deep caramel color with amber highlights. Smell is of fruits, alcohol. Taste is alcohol up front, some malts and fruit, more alcohol at the finish. Overall not bad, but a bit to alcohol forward for my liking.

Monster is a gentle wallop of boozy goodness. It is friendly and accessible with some charm. It has some grain expression that is appealing and provides some complexity. Overall more balanced than intense or complex... other than the booze part.

Bottle (10.1% 2012 vintage, sampled Dec 2013). Amazing colour - perfect amber. Head is cappuccino, starts thick, goes to halo. Aroma is thick... Woody, caramel, fruitcake. Taste is malt sweet, slightly burnt toffee, a little fruity bitterness (like peel). Body is very full, nice warming exit. Long finish. Very nice.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle 355 ml from Le Mondial de la Bière - Mulhouse (F). Beer color of an end of tropical sunset, thin and fleeting head. Alcoholic flavors, notes of Cognac and fruits in Armagnac. The taste is delight, syrupy, liquorish, very sweet, round and warm. Some points of acidity, hints of fresh wood, candied fruits of pudding, caramel, An aromatic bitterness balances this nectar and gives a superb aftertaste. Long in mouth on the alcohol. A true Monster.

Bottle 355ml, a brown amber beer with low head. Nose is on over ripped fruits, with burnt caramel touch. Aroma is also sweet, caramel, burnt caramel, grapes, yeast, spices, light peated notes, bit alcoholic. Nice but expected something more explosive.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours golden brown with a light khaki head. Upfront aroma of musk lollies, caramel and butterscotch. Taste is upfront but not overpowering toffee sweetness, slightly apricoty and a bitter hop finish. Lingering sweet bitterness. Bigfoot smokes it outta the water!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a nice clear copper color with a thin tan head. Nose is caramel and cherry. Aromas are roasted malts, caramel, biscuits, exotic fruits and flowery/spicy hops. Maybe too much bitterness for a barley wine. Soft carbonation and oily texture.

291113. Bottle at home (ABM). Pours clear copper with a nice head. Aroma citrusy hops, earthy notes, some raisins. Surprisingly mild palate. Hint of alcohol on the tongue. More so on the after taste. Sweet still. Rather unbalanced. Not Bad.
