3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Appearance: Pours a rich amber. Like an southern sweet tea, and with a foamy that faded into a tight, neat bubble ring around the glass.
Aroma: Cherries soaked in alcohol. Possibly a bit of mango, but its rather difficult to smell around the alcohol.
Taste: Hoo-boy! Very sherry-like in flavor, with bit of smoke in there. Hmm. I’m not really getting any clear cut malt or hop signals beyond the alcohol fumes. Long, spicy finish that eventually begins to erode the back of the throat.
Palate: Medium body. A little astringent.
Overall: OK. The alcohol burn was a little off-putting for me. Not exactly what I expect from a Barley wine. It was more like a Belgian. Not bad but there are other readily available Barley wines I would choose over this. But it tasted young and fresh. Perhaps a little aging would do. I am not set up for that though so I my preference would be for a BW that has a more finished taste.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
330ml bottle 2012 @ home. From Saveur Biere. Production date 3242.
Fine pale see-through reddish colour. Low circle foam goes around the glass. Good taste but I miss more intense grip.
Feels first too simple but gets much better when getting warmer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
English hop aroma. Flavor of alcohol strikes first. Still cold so might take a little while for other flavors to come to play. Definantly a sipper.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
2011 bottle. Has stood up well over the years. Aromas are pouring out of honey, big yeast, and blackberries. The taste is cohesive compared to fresh and the alcohol is hidden. Wish there was a little more zing to it. All together really good still.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark caramelly pour with a tiny white head. Sweet vinous aroma of plums, apricots, caramel and raisins. Heavy on the sweet side, and not alot of bitterness. Pretty abrupt finish, which has some bitterness to it. All in all, very enjoyable.
