Brooklyn Oktoberfest was introduced in 2000. It is true to the original German style, full-bodied and malty, with a bready aroma and light, brisk hop bitterness. When Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria wanted to celebrate his wedding engagement in 1810, he did what any good Bavarian prince would--he threw a beer festival. Bothe the festival and the special beer served there became known as Oktoberfest. Brewed from the finest German malt and hops, Brooklyn Oktoberfest is true to the original style, fullbodied and malty, with a bready aroma and light, brisk hop bitterness.

This was kind of a disappointment seeing as the Black Chocolate Stout and Brooklyn #1 and #2 were so good. It could just be that I’m not enjoying the style as this is only the 2nd or 3rd Oktoberfest I’ve had. Pours an amber color with a sweet, but dull taste. That’s about all I got from this. Drinkable, but nothing that blew my socks off.

Aroma is corn, wheat, caramel, malt, bitter. Appearance is rust orange, off white head, clear. Taste is caramel, corn, wheat, bitter malt, flavor reminiscent of a scotch ale. Mouthfeel is light body, light crisp carbonation, caramel metallic aftertaste. Overall, eh. Not really like the other Oktoberfest beers I’ve had.

Clear brown orange, minimal tan head. Aroma is not much, some malt. Medium-light body. Pretty sweet overall, some malt, caramel, finishes a little drier. Straightforward, not bad.

Draft at Magerks. Pours clear bright copper with a bubbly off white head. Tastes like dried dark fruits, toffee malt, earth, toast, and caramel. Light/medium body and low carbonation. Smells like toffee malt, earth, dry toast, and caramel.

Pours clear amber with some decent white lacing. Nose is light with a little European hops and syrup. Flavor is similar but bigger with a lot of carbonation bite and a sticky finish. Fairly typical for the style.

Bottle from Appellation Dalry. Pale, clear amber. Nose of resin, malts, orange bit of jaffa cakes. On the palate, easy, malty, not complicated.

quiet foam, speaks with air of class. Solid middle, like biting into a candy that has a harder candy center. The smell of fall. What an abundance of fests so far, almost one for each day of Chanukah. Not thinking goes over natural instinct lasts forever. Aftertaste goes on like fond memories, glossy postcards, words you feel in your knees, ticklish virginity. Could dilute this with 50% water and it’s still twice mich ultra. Mixes with pale ale like a cold aged bock. Just happy for all this motivation. Crickedy and surprisingly quiet places you find in town, maybe after the night wound down for most, but we still sayin prosit! Darkly tinted like fall holiday colors. Rich like what you want to consume before confronting a cold day on foot, perhaps in several types of rain, comes on strong like someone raised in a high density human environment, mellows but with backbone spineing into you for a while. Foam latte-like, because everything could use some latteing. This will latte your day all night baby. No Sleep.

Pours a clear caramel brown with a thin white head. Some light fall spices in the aroma. Simple flavors. OK but nothing special. Not bad but just not that good.
