I’ve had many Oktoberfest/Octoberfest/Marzen beers, and this is one of the better ones. The beer produced this year (2014), is probably the best yet from Brooklyn.
Pours a gorgeous deep gold with slight copper hues. Nice, creamy head that lasts, then fades off to some nice lacing. Nice brewery fresh aroma of barley and fresh baked bread. Some decent hops in the nose as well, just right for the style.
Nice soft, barley malt flavor with just enough hop bitterness, the hops being unmistakably German. Wonderfully balanced.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sorry Brooklyn, but these damn October beers have never done it for me. I know every brewery feels obligated to brew these infernal things, but it is not necessary. It is those off flavors of zest and yeast that make this thing unstable. Just knock it off with this stuff. Serving size: multi 12oz bottles.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Transfer from BA review on 10-10-12-
Poured from bottle into pint glass
Appearance – Pours an amber brown color with a one finger off white head. The head fades relatively fast to leave only a very light level of lacing.
Smell- The aroma is a combination of sweet and roasted malt. The sweetness is of a caramel nature with the malt being of a roasted brown bread smell. Mixed with these aromas are some lighter notes of an earthy hop with hints of spice.
Taste – The taste begins with a nice dose of caramel and roasted malt. As the flavor advances further some earthy hop flavors come to the tongue along with a nutty and spicy flavor. As the flavor advances to the end, the sweet dries out slightly and with a bit more earthy hop coming to the tongue, it creates a drier flavor on the tongue; in the end the beer leaves a nice crisp, yet satisfyingly sweet roasted flavor on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer was on the thicker than average side with a decent creamy feel and a carbonation level that was rather average The creamy body was very nice for the roasted malt, nutty, and spice flavors of the brew while the carbonation level made for a good and easy drinking beer
Overall – A very nice refreshing and tasty Oktoberfest. Its blend of sweet, roasty, and drinkability make it one very nice session for the season.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz. bottle from backlog notes 07. Pours a clear orange/amber color with a foamy beige head. The aroma is a mix of toasted grains, caramel malt, and a hint of hops. The flavor is mainly toasted malts, light hints of caramel, some grass, and light hops. Medium bodied and easy to drink. This is a fairly average, yet clean Oktoberfest.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
It had a small creamy light tan head over a deep amber colored body with good clarity. The head fades quickly but hangs on till the last slip and make for some slick lacing on the way down the mug. The aroma is sweet, candy like, with caramel notes and hint of bubble gum, toasted malt and mild hops. It has a sweet caramel toasted and bready malt with some light buttery and nutty notes. Hop flavor is mild and adds some spice and mild bitterness as well as a slight metallic touch. It has an easy drinking medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. The finish is sweet and clean.
