COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn Oktoberfest was introduced in 2000. It is true to the original German style, full-bodied and malty, with a bready aroma and light, brisk hop bitterness.

Slight malty aroma. Pours deep bronze with a huge, fluffy head that leaves a solid lacing down the glass. Looks lively, carbonated. Taste is malty, not as much bready yeastiness as some of the German counterparts, some sweet caramel there. A little bit too carbonated, aside from that the palate is adequate. Good marzen, but there are better out there.

Originally reviewed: 11/14/08. This beer pours a nice deep copper color with only about an inch’s worth of head. This then dissipates within a minute or so. No lacing whatsoever. Smell is fairly basic. Some roasted characteristics, some caramel. A little grassy hop smell as well. The taste far surpasses the look and smell. This is a really good marzen. Nice roasted caramel taste with a nice complement of hop bitterness. Some spice characteristics as well. Balance is fair. Mild bitter aftertaste. I’ve grown to really like the oktoberfest/marzen style, and this one hits the mark. I will seek this out again next year.

12 Fl Oz Brown bottle, best before Mar 2011, drank early Nov 2010 in my hotel lounge, Cork, Ireland. The beer poured an autuminal dark orange, almost an Irish Red beer colour. The thin covering of bubbles fell away quicker than I liked, leaving not even a collar. The aroma was of malts, mixed bag of malts, semi-sweet molasses and some bready smells too. The taste wasn’t too great, malty without a hop presence, disappointing to be honest. The body was weak and uninspiring, not impressed at all. Just a poor malty beer with 5.5%ABV hidden somewhere in it. The worst O’Fest beer I’ve ever had.

The aroma and the taste is sweet malt, bread and grains. The taste is pretty thin. Probably a completely OK beer, but I do not like it!

355ml bottle. Pours a clear, medium amber, with a beige head. Surprisingly hoppy aroma, malt, caramel, orange peel, yeast. Dry, light to medium body, medium bitterness, balanced CO2. Quite hoppy taste, malt, caramel, faint cardboard, a bit thin in the finish. (2012-03-03)

This was much better than I expected. Pours a nice dark copper color. Light to medium carbonation. The flavor is rich with caramel, sugar, malt, and some hops. This is a quite enjoyable beer overall.

(Bottle) Pours amber small off-white head. Big caramelly nose with light grassy hops in the background. Hints of toffee, sweet dried fruits and bread. The flavour is light to medium sweet and light to medium bitter. Caramelly and bready malt alongside grassy and herbal hops. The mouthfeel clean with a soft carbonation. Bit woodsy. Medium bodied.

12oz bottle 12/31/11 (Binny’s Naperville)-42° in Lager Glass-Pours a light brown with a small tan covering for a head. Aroma of roasted malt, toffee, and caramel. Taste of the same with a bit of a metallic taste. This medium bodied brew is not too shabby.
