Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Pilsner is a refreshing golden lager beer, brewed in the style favored by New York’s pre-Prohibition brewers. In the 1840’s, the pilsner style emerged from central Europe to become the world’s most popular style of beer. Like its ancesters, Brooklyn Pilsner is traditionally brewed from the finest European two-row barley malts. German-grown Perle and Hallertauer hops provide a crisp, snappy bitterness and fresh, floral aroma. We ferment Brooklyn Pilsner at cool temperatures and then give it a long, gentle maturation (lagering), which results in a beer of superior complexity and smoothness.

Pours clear orange-yellow with a thin white head and some nice lacing. Aroma is a bit skunky with orange peel and possibly an avacado/ cilantro smell. Very wet mouthfeel with a more dry finish. Taste is tart, almost horseraddishy in it’s bitterness but not overwhelming. Finishes with more orange peel verging on bitter grape fruit. Dissapointing considering some of the reviews i’ve read but maybe I just don’t have a taste for pilsners.

Pale blond color with a white head that leaves lacing on the glass. Bold malt aroma - grainy, nice floral hops. Sweet malty with a citrus and bitterness in the end. Refreshing and pleasant.

Thanks Joe McPhee for this beer. From a 12 oz bottle this poured an attractive clear light golden color with a fluff long lasting head and good lacing. The nose is very much citrus with a variety of aromas including orange, grapefruit, and lemon. Very smooth body. Clean mouthfeel. The flavor is dominated by the citrus hops which leads to some light bitterness but the malts are there too. This is very much like a great German Pilsner, Great example of the style and imminently drinkable.

Nice deep golden color. Fluffy head. Very citrusy aroma, like orange and lemon combined. NIce smooth body, with first the citrus hop flavor, then some light - albeit maybe a bit too weak - malt flavor combining. If I had to compare this to other beers, I’d say it’s very much like those pilsners of northern German; Hamburg to be specific. A very good beer, and a nice choice for those who may find Brooklyn Lager a bit too heavy for their palates.

Pours a yellow with a huge fluffy head. The aroma is floral and hay like, and the flavour starts out with bread-like maltiness going into a clean bitternes.
