Fissell (7), Somerville, USA does not count Oct 25, 2009 A light pilsner that leaves you wanting for something of more substance. Thin, watery lacing that drains into a very light amber hue that is reminiscent of of any light lager from a macro-brewery. Aroma is one of chemically altered hops and the bitter swallow can be a bit skunky. mnurda (434), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Oct 14, 2009 Bottled sample this past agusts on trip to NYC. Goldeny in colour. Great carbonation. Nice cirtus and lemon flavour. Super beer. jbye4334 (652), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Oct 14, 2009 (bottle from j12601). Clear golden/orange color. Medium off white head. Light grain and citrus aroma and flavor. Avg duration. Slightly dry finish. Thin texture. Moderate carbonation. Spare lacing. zdk (180), New York, USA Sep 30, 2009 Bottle: I was surprised how good this was. Nice spicy, floral notes. Nice and refreshing. It went very well with the food I was having (vegetarian fare at a restaurant near Washington Square park, manhattan).
While I’m sure there are better pils out there, I haven’t had one yet. jodah52 (47), Michigan, USA Sep 25, 2009 Got something on tap they called ’Brooklyn special pilsner,’ so not sure if it’s the same. The aforementioned, however, is very impressive. A lager with mild but distinct characters of a British extra special bitter. IMHO, the best pilsner I’ve had. williamherbert (420), Syracuse, New York, USA Sep 2, 2009 Bright hazy yellow look. Minimal lace. Actually looks more like a Belgian white than anything. Bright and sunny.
The smell is spicy, bitter beechwood/noble hops. The malt is of a sharp, bitter nature. Leafy, woodsy aroma. Hint of chlorine in the hops.
The taste is flowery bitter hops, floating atop the lagery malt. A bit sharp in both the hop and the malt. Sharp, pilsnery taste (naturally). Actually becomes more like a light (Bud) lager as it warms.
Feels creamy at first but finishes clearn. Watery and thin, though bubbly on the swallow. Reveals itself as a lesser brew as it warms. A bitter lager that is decent but disappointing. angrybeerman (107), Dublin, Ireland Sep 1, 2009 Updated: Oct 8, 2009A very light beer and one of the better light beers I’ve had. Golden colour but not much head. Hoppy flavor that was very refreshing. A very drinkable pilsner. JediMindTricks (239), Hampton, Virginia, USA Aug 20, 2009 Golden yellow in color with a thick white head. Grainy in smell and flavor. Nice balancing bitterness. Could use a little more bitterness though for a pilsner. Not at all bad though.
