Brooklyn Pilsner is a refreshing golden lager beer, brewed in the style favored by New York’s pre-Prohibition brewers. In the 1840’s, the pilsner style emerged from central Europe to become the world’s most popular style of beer. Like its ancesters, Brooklyn Pilsner is traditionally brewed from the finest European two-row barley malts. German-grown Perle and Hallertauer hops provide a crisp, snappy bitterness and fresh, floral aroma. We ferment Brooklyn Pilsner at cool temperatures and then give it a long, gentle maturation (lagering), which results in a beer of superior complexity and smoothness.

12oz bottle. Looks light. Aroma of pale malts, floral hops, and some dough. Flavor the same. Average texture. A standard pilsner but nothing exceptional.

Bottle. Pale yellow with small foamy white head, little hops aroma, high carbonation, slightly bitter watery taste, abrupt finish. Smooth but not as crisp as better Pilsners.

Pours a cloudy golden amber color with a light head. The aroma is a malt smell, you can smell the barley in it. The taste is a typical pilsner taste but a little better than the average one, leave a bit of a dry aftertaste. Overall beer is ok but not the best.

Pour golden yellow with a thin soapy white head which fades to a little lacing. Aroma is of pils malts, biscuit malts, floral hops, grassy hops, light pine, and some light spicy hops. Taste is pils malts, bready biscuit malts, grassy hops, herbal hops, spicy hops, and light pine. Has a medium-light body with a slightly watery mouthfeel and a semi bitter, semi dry, medium finish. Overall, a pretty tasty pils that is both refreshing and drinkable.

Floral, spicy aroma with notes of pils malt. Appearance is light gold with a white head. Flavor is crisp a slight malt sweetness from the pils malt. Hop flavor is spicy with notes of flowers. Mouthfeel is medium light. Overall, I'd prefer more hop aroma and flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Old rating. Bottle from Old Town. Clear straw color with a nice white head. Grassy nose with some faint biscuit and grain that come through. A touch of citrus as well in the nose. Taste is clean, crisp and refreshing. Great carbonation and mouthfeel for the style. A solid pilsner.

Aroma is a nice blend of tartness, grass, and light bread. Deep, clear gold color with plenty of carbonation. It has mostly a soft mouth feel and very crisp. Taste has a nice sweet malt/bitter hop balance. This is one of the better pilsners I’ve had.

Initial rating from 8.29.2010, after having a badly out of date bottle, was .9 total. Upon having a fresh bottle on 4.6.2015, deleted old rating and entered the following. Appearance: bright clear gold, slightly darker than expected, with a finger of creamy white head; minimal lace. Aroma: toasted white bread, honeyed grains, fresh grass, lemon zest, pepper. Taste: slightly sweet and grainy, with toasted white bread, light floral honey, grassy and hay, a bit of peppery skunk--in a good way. Finish: clean, crisp, a little bready, and slightly sweet. Notes: On the third try, with a spanking fresh bottle, this was one of the best American pilsners I’ve ever had. Will absolutely drink again. Bottle from Total Wine in Fairfax, VA (Pickett Center).

Just before drinking half a bottle of this I split half a bottle of Sierra Nevada Pilsner and my taste buds were confused at the two different tastes. Ar: not a trace of ’beer’ smell that I’m used to from the macro lagers. Ap: someone else said a haystraw hazy yellow and their words can’t be beat T: I have to agree with the people who said lemon/citrus/complex/fruit/yeasty flavor. It wasn’t what I was expecting and very different from the beer I just tasted before this one. I’ll have to try it again on it’s own and re-rate if needed sometime. Palate: higher carbonation than some beers, some bitterness. Overall: not sure at this time, needs another sampling. Especially since I was thinking of growing Perle and Hallertau hops in my yard this summer, along with Mt. Hood.
