COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn Pilsner is a refreshing golden lager beer, brewed in the style favored by New York’s pre-Prohibition brewers. In the 1840’s, the pilsner style emerged from central Europe to become the world’s most popular style of beer. Like its ancesters, Brooklyn Pilsner is traditionally brewed from the finest European two-row barley malts. German-grown Perle and Hallertauer hops provide a crisp, snappy bitterness and fresh, floral aroma. We ferment Brooklyn Pilsner at cool temperatures and then give it a long, gentle maturation (lagering), which results in a beer of superior complexity and smoothness.

Large white head of dense bubbles. Great carbonation. Light crisp aroma with some grassy yeast, some malty grains and a bit of bread. Hard to place some of the aromas but it is quite good. Color is a medium gold. Flavor is a bit weak and watery. Light grains and grass. Good bit of hops and bitterness. Dry tart bitterness at the finish. Brew starts off good and then degrades a little. Decent.

Sampled from bottle at River’s Bend on 9/1/2006 - Thanks Matt! I really enjoy all of Brooklyn’s brews which is why they are one of my favorites. Their brews are always aromatic, tasty, and true to the style. I feel that they are above average and worth trying at least once. For me, Brooklyn beer is what I usually go after when I need a good, somewhat unique, and relatively affordable 6-pack. Other than that, I will have to add more specific comments once I have a chance to really taste this beer again... Rating: 7 3 7 3 14 = 3.4.

9/18/2008: Brooklyn Pilsner has a hazy deep golden color with a foamy and lasting off-white head. The aroma is has a nice floral hop presence with notes of toffee malt, suble spice, and a tinge of butteriness. The flavor is much like the aroma only a bit more dry (Even more-so in the crisp finish) and the hops flavors and moderate Noble bitterness come out to a greater degree. Overall it is malty in the fron and pleasingly hoppy in the back. At times there seems to be a gap in the middle though. This beer is medium-bodied and is soft on the palate. I have always enjoyed Brooklyn Brewery beer and this one is another good example of their use of aromatic and floral hops to create a well-balanced beer with a decent bite.

golden with a small white head. aroma is very strange. not a big fan of it. as eaglefan put it is very very grainy. kinda smells like sticking your head into a bucket of horse feed. flavor is a bit better. still a bit grainy but it also has some slightly toasted malt and hops going on. light to medium body with good carbonation. finish long bitter and hoppy with a hint of that damn grain again. not so sure about this one.i liked the hops but i just cant get past the raw grain aroma and flavor.

UPDATED: APR 28, 2007 Re-rate, 4/07, didn’t get much american hop impression like my first one, seemed pretty noble, mainly bittering hops, although some fruity esters do come through, not heavy on honey or grass flavors like many a saaz-ed up pilsner, a little on the watery side, though.Original rating: Nice carbonation and head. The aroma was grainy, lots of finishing hop aromas, a bit of some atypical varieties, US? Flavor was grainy, some biscuits, light pine and citrus hops flavors and a definite bittering hop presence. Mouthfeel was moderate and carbonated. I kinda liked this one, despite being a bit different take on the style.

Bottle. Clear to slightly hazy golden color with quickly diminishing white head. Aroma of light malt, lemony hops and honeysuckle with a trace of sweaty yeast. Flavor basically grassy malt and light hops. A bit of hop bitterness on the finish. Decent, but no reason for excitement.
