COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn Pilsner is a refreshing golden lager beer, brewed in the style favored by New York’s pre-Prohibition brewers. In the 1840’s, the pilsner style emerged from central Europe to become the world’s most popular style of beer. Like its ancesters, Brooklyn Pilsner is traditionally brewed from the finest European two-row barley malts. German-grown Perle and Hallertauer hops provide a crisp, snappy bitterness and fresh, floral aroma. We ferment Brooklyn Pilsner at cool temperatures and then give it a long, gentle maturation (lagering), which results in a beer of superior complexity and smoothness.

The description above mentions a "crisp, snappy bitterness." These gibberish terms hide the fact that this beer is like Amstel Light’s fat nephew. The malts are fairly flavorless, leaving the European hops to crisply snap our tastebuds into a dark, dreamless, endless sleep. Brooklyn Pilsner is a true beauty queen: lovely to look at, vapid and empty at heart.

Bottle from Black Sheep Lodge. Orange pour with a white head. Aroma is lemon, a little spicy, and kinda grainy. Taste is dry bitter hops, light fruit, floral. Dry finish.

Bottle. Malty nose with classic pilsner aromas. biscuit, hay, some noble hop spice. Clear bright yellow with active carbonation up to a thin white head. Opens with a soft grassiness and biscuity malt tones and a spicy hop finish. There is a perception of fullness from the spice but overall it’s a bit watery. Still a very nice American example of the style.

In bottles at Black Sheep Lodge. Pours a heavy orange color with a foamy white head. Aroma is light, grainy and fresh. Some orange peel also. Flavor is orange peel and lemon zest with tingles of grain. Dryness and slightly bitter. Fairly refreshing with a light dry finish.

Poured a gold color, ave head. Aroma was some barley, earthy. Taste was lite sweet and lite bitter. Little grassy taste. Goes down smooth. Not much flavor going on. Ok. Easy drinkin, that’s bout it.

Bottle. Nose is floral -- geraniums -- and mandarin orange. Pours a gold-orange with a fine-grained head that leaves lace. Taste -- well, let’s put it this way: this is the beer that most macro-brew fizzy stuff wants to be, and utterly fails at being. This is the perfect ballpark beer. This is beer to be drunk after a long day at the factory. This is damn fine stuff.

2009 bottle: Grassy and grainy, with vague floral notes. Hazy amber, thin head. Floral and vegetal on the front end. Hoppier than most other pilsners I’ve had. This is probably a fine beer when fresh. This old sample has some issues that I attribute to its age.

Pours out a golden yellow with a decent white head. Very smooth and refreshing. a nice balance between the malt and the hops.
