COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn Pilsner is a refreshing golden lager beer, brewed in the style favored by New York’s pre-Prohibition brewers. In the 1840’s, the pilsner style emerged from central Europe to become the world’s most popular style of beer. Like its ancesters, Brooklyn Pilsner is traditionally brewed from the finest European two-row barley malts. German-grown Perle and Hallertauer hops provide a crisp, snappy bitterness and fresh, floral aroma. We ferment Brooklyn Pilsner at cool temperatures and then give it a long, gentle maturation (lagering), which results in a beer of superior complexity and smoothness.

Pours a hazy yellow, minimal head, very slight hint of malt aroma, smooth tasting, crisp, no aftertaste, very drinkable. Like this one a lot.

Aroma is a nice blend of tartness, grass, and light bread. Deep, clear gold color with plenty of carbonation. It has mostly a soft mouth feel and very crisp. Taste has a nice sweet malt/bitter hop balance. This is one of the better pilsners I’ve had.

Very crisp, drinkable and refreshing beer. Malty body, with a little bit of hoppy bitterness. Nice session beer.

Initial rating from 8.29.2010, after having a badly out of date bottle, was .9 total. Upon having a fresh bottle on 4.6.2015, deleted old rating and entered the following. Appearance: bright clear gold, slightly darker than expected, with a finger of creamy white head; minimal lace. Aroma: toasted white bread, honeyed grains, fresh grass, lemon zest, pepper. Taste: slightly sweet and grainy, with toasted white bread, light floral honey, grassy and hay, a bit of peppery skunk--in a good way. Finish: clean, crisp, a little bready, and slightly sweet. Notes: On the third try, with a spanking fresh bottle, this was one of the best American pilsners I’ve ever had. Will absolutely drink again. Bottle from Total Wine in Fairfax, VA (Pickett Center).

Just before drinking half a bottle of this I split half a bottle of Sierra Nevada Pilsner and my taste buds were confused at the two different tastes. Ar: not a trace of ’beer’ smell that I’m used to from the macro lagers. Ap: someone else said a haystraw hazy yellow and their words can’t be beat T: I have to agree with the people who said lemon/citrus/complex/fruit/yeasty flavor. It wasn’t what I was expecting and very different from the beer I just tasted before this one. I’ll have to try it again on it’s own and re-rate if needed sometime. Palate: higher carbonation than some beers, some bitterness. Overall: not sure at this time, needs another sampling. Especially since I was thinking of growing Perle and Hallertau hops in my yard this summer, along with Mt. Hood.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle that says BB Feb 2015. Well, it is March 2015. Yellow pour into the footed pilsener glass building up to a huge white foamy head. Aroma of sweet malts, grain, and grass. Light to medium body. There is this syrupy sweetness that I cannot quite define in the taste. But it ends clean and crisp. Decent enough.

Light citrine yellow, clear, snow white head. Light body, moderate flavor, lean texture and austere mouthfeel, nice carbonation, long but faint and clean finish. Dry, which makes the slight bitterness more pronounced. Complex flavor, floral, yeasty, malty background. Delicate and well balanced, very refreshing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Clear golden beer with a small white head. Aroma is malty with notes of caramel, bread, herbs and grass. Flavor is malty with notes of bread, herbs, spicy hops and citrus. Well balanced.

Poured from a bottle. Substantial head plus some lacing. Cloudy straw yellow appearance. Slight aroma of hops, somewhat sweet tasting for a pilsner.

UPDATED: MAR 13, 2015 A: Haystraw yellow with perhaps a bit of chill haze. Nice two finger rocky head with very good retention. Average to low carbonation swirling up. Good amount of lace left behind. S: Cracker malt and little else. A bit of grassy hops. Something somehow metallic detected though not off-putting. T: A biting dryness up front. Crisp crackers again which I like. Earthy hop flavor on the finish. Good balance and overall a fairly distinctive flavor. Very good. M: Light to medium mouthfeel with a nice tingle from fine textured carbonation. O: Another nice pilsner to add to my stable of favorites. Maybe not in my top 3 of the style but one I will surely always go back to.

A nice clear, no haze, straw color. Clean crisp taste with hints of sweetness. Good dry finish that rolls off the palate. Head is a bright white and the aroma has notes of noble hops like a good pilsener should. Fantastic carbonation.
