COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn Pilsner is a refreshing golden lager beer, brewed in the style favored by New York’s pre-Prohibition brewers. In the 1840’s, the pilsner style emerged from central Europe to become the world’s most popular style of beer. Like its ancesters, Brooklyn Pilsner is traditionally brewed from the finest European two-row barley malts. German-grown Perle and Hallertauer hops provide a crisp, snappy bitterness and fresh, floral aroma. We ferment Brooklyn Pilsner at cool temperatures and then give it a long, gentle maturation (lagering), which results in a beer of superior complexity and smoothness.

DATE TASTED: August 16, 2013 ... GLASSWARE: Paulaner pokal... OCCASION: Strat-O-Matic football cards arrive... APPEARANCE: tawny straw-golden body that supports a confident white froth; lacing is thick with rings; effervescence is steady... AROMA: pleasant floral fragrance with bananas and clove--a flavorful combination...PALATE: smooth, medium-bodied with a palpable aftertaste; the balance is striking ...TASTE: lightly malty, slightly hoppy--the airy scents translate to a lagerish depth and strength... OVERALL: mellow, predictable pilsner--but a compliment, considering the pilsner profile as a whole; as a player in the Brooklyn sampler, the pilsner holds up well...

Pours light honey color, with a small foamy head. Aroma is light hops, not much otherwise. Smells is a bit stronger and more pleasant than Heineken. Taste is crisp, refreshing. Light, but not as light as some other lagers, yeasty. Medium carbonation. Overall good for a pilsener, but I wouldn’t drink this if it wasn’t summertime.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy yellow gold body under a one finger fizzy white head that had really nice retention. The nose is mostly bready pale malt with just a bit of floral hops. The flavor isn’t quite as clean as I was hoping for, the hops are pretty lacking for my tastes. The malt has a bit of a bland cereal grain taste to it. It just doesn’t quite taste as well lagered as I would expect, the finish isn’t very crisp at all. The minimal bitterness level doesn’t do anything to help the situation either. Light bodied and a little clingy with soft fizzy carbonation. Not up my alley as far as Pilseners go.

The body has a bright golden color with very good clarity and some nice streams of fine carbonation rushing to the head. The head builds up tall and fluffy. It is bright white in color, has good retention and makes some lacing on the glass. Its aroma has a light biscuity malt presence with some floral hops. The flavor is very clean, crisp and very well balanced. A subtle biscuity malt mixes with a mild floral and almost fruity hops. The hops bring a pleasant bitterness and dry crispness to the finish. It has a smooth light texture with just enough carbonation to match its light to medium body.

Pours a pale gold with 2 finger white head. Smells basic of malt and bit of hops. Tastes pretty good. Bitter and also malty. Light palate. Overall, it's not great but not offensive to drink. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From a bottle. Not a big fan of pilsners. This one has a bit more flavor and is quite good. I was surprised, a pilsner I can drink.

Pours a nice golden color with white head. Some citrus, malt, and wheat on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a little hop grass note.

Light malty aroma and flavor, more body than a light beer. Dry finish with maybe slight barnyard funk to it. Full flavored, but not too complex. Enjoyable and drinkable, but I wouldn't seek it out. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
