COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn Pilsner is a refreshing golden lager beer, brewed in the style favored by New York’s pre-Prohibition brewers. In the 1840’s, the pilsner style emerged from central Europe to become the world’s most popular style of beer. Like its ancesters, Brooklyn Pilsner is traditionally brewed from the finest European two-row barley malts. German-grown Perle and Hallertauer hops provide a crisp, snappy bitterness and fresh, floral aroma. We ferment Brooklyn Pilsner at cool temperatures and then give it a long, gentle maturation (lagering), which results in a beer of superior complexity and smoothness.

Got something on tap they called ’Brooklyn special pilsner,’ so not sure if it’s the same. The aforementioned, however, is very impressive. A lager with mild but distinct characters of a British extra special bitter. IMHO, the best pilsner I’ve had.

12oz bottle from Binny’s. Pours a crystal clear, yellow-gold colored body with an inch thick, frothy and foamy, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is wet, fresh bread with a lightly sweetened pils malt backing and a moderate amount of sweeter, grassy and floral hops. A touch of honey as well. Flavor is similar. Lots of bready pils malts with a light sweetness, some honey, and a bit buttery. A good amount of spicy floral hops and some grass before this finishes dry, smooth, and malty feeling, but fairly bitter with a mild fruitiness. Medium length aftertaste following a smooth, medium-light body and a somewhat creamy, moderate carbonation. Overall, a decent pils. Pretty bready and somewhat buttery with a bigger malt backing than most pilsners, but a good amount of spicy florals and grassy hops make up a firm bitterness. A light fruitiness keeps this interesting enough. Not bad.

Bottle from a pastry shop in Williamsburg. This is a really solid session beer, with a sweet grassy aroma with a light, fizzy mouthfeel. Light citrus flavors from the hops, but this brew lacks the peppery notes from most pilsners.

Clear golden with a pillowy but rapidly dissipating off-white head. Aroma of bread, florals, and grass. The taste is earthy and bready with a nice floral hop bitterness. Medium bodied and a bit dry. Good refreshing pils with a fuller flavor than most.

Out of a bottle: Appears very yellow, with a very clean white head. Lots of lacing. Med carbonation. Smells very floral with a hint of cheese. Taste is clean and dry barley, with a touch of sweetness in the after taste. Clean, fresh, direct floral hoppiness describes this to me. Drink very cold for a great refreshing beer on a summer day.

Pours an amber-tinted yellow with a white head. Bitter, grassy aroma. Sweet taste with a bitter finish. Body is a little heavy for a pils. Finish is lively and bitter but the sweetness just kills the pleasure.

Pours a very clean, yellow, highly carbonated brew with a low frothy, white head. Aroma has a strong grainy kick with a pungent Hallertauer floral/funky punch. Flavor is clean with a strong Hallertauer kick, so strong that it imparts a slight lemongrass note late in the tasting. Grainy flavor comes in early in the beer and is very pleasant, complimenting the later hoppiness. Body is light with a very sharp crisp kick from the high amount of carbonation. Overall a very tasty pils. A bit on the hoppy side as the grain doesn’t seem to pop out as easily as a pils typically does. A very enjoyable beer.

On tap at the brewery. Pours with a clear golden hued body with a white head. Aromas are hoppy, bready, with a slightly out of place fruitiness. Flavors show mild fruit, malty, medium bitter. Mild ester. Creamy carbonation on a drier palate.
