Radius is a saison that harks back to the days when farmhouse beers were session beers, full of flavor, but light enough that you could stick with them all day or all evening. At only 4.8% ABV, Radius is among the lightest beers we’ve ever made, but it’s packed with flavor. Our Belgian yeast strain gives complex spicy notes and some bright orange zest flavors, while Perle and Aurora hops give a zippy bitterness and a pleasant floral aroma. Radius is bone-dry, unfiltered, hoppy, and refreshing, and doesn’t put the hard whammy on us after a glass or two (okay, it’s true - we’re sometimes in the mood for the hard whammy...but not always!).

On tap at the brewery. Pours cloudy golden with a lacy, white head. Aroma of pale malts, floral hops, and a good amount of spicy notes and light fruits. Flavor about the same, with the spiciness and fruitiness taking the background compared to the malts and hops. Average texture. A good beer for the style.

[keg at the Brooklyn Brewery] Opaque yellow pour with a slightly off-white, quick dispersing head. Musty aroma of hay, lemon and lime, floral notes, and spicy hop. Flavours followed suit. Quite a lot of lemon on the taste, with the wheaty, bready notes towards the end. Despite this, the finish is pretty clean. Good stuff [26112012]

On tap at Owl Farm during our bar crawl through Brooklyn. Pours a mostly clear gold with a thin white head. Lemongrass, soft musk, grain on the nose. Medium bodied, grainy, musk and cereal. More musk and grain throughout. A bit one dimensional and a touch bland. Still drinks well.

Tap at a market in Williamsburg Brooklyn NY. Pours low haze yellow. Thick white meringue head. Nose is fresh biscuit and small herbs. Taste is mega fresh dough and cracker, fresh lemon and crust. Palate is fresh and quenching. Similar to a victory pils with just too little hop balance. Excellent malt forward showcase. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Associated Supermarket, Buskwick growler-fill ($10): Pour is super light, with a relatively loose white head. Aroma is farmhouse funk and some smelly flowers and stuff. Taste is really light, but it is no sense watery. Full enough flavor for a light saison. Light hoppiness throughout. Pretty good.
