COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Radius is a saison that harks back to the days when farmhouse beers were session beers, full of flavor, but light enough that you could stick with them all day or all evening. At only 4.8% ABV, Radius is among the lightest beers we’ve ever made, but it’s packed with flavor. Our Belgian yeast strain gives complex spicy notes and some bright orange zest flavors, while Perle and Aurora hops give a zippy bitterness and a pleasant floral aroma. Radius is bone-dry, unfiltered, hoppy, and refreshing, and doesn’t put the hard whammy on us after a glass or two (okay, it’s true - we’re sometimes in the mood for the hard whammy...but not always!).

Bottle poured by Mr Garret Oliver at Brooklyn Ghost Bottle night at Blue Ribbon. This was a super fun, 1 hour, free event with great beer and food so thanks brooklyn brewery. This was first beer they poured and it tastes of tropical fruit, black pepper, grass, cloves, grains and earth. It mildly bitter with lingering sweetness. Billed as a session beer I could see myself drinking quite a bit of this over an afternoon.

Draft. Pours clear gold with an off white head. Fruity and light spicy yeasty aroma, with lighter flowery notes. The flavor is bright and clean, with fruity sweetness, pale malts, spicy Belgian yeast, light flowery notes, and a quick crisp floral finish. A nice low ABV Belgian ale, though I didn’t really see it as a saison. But what the hell do I know anyway.

CanIHave4Beers (2094) - Des Moines, Iowa, USA - APR 30, 2012
Draught at the Brewery

Pours a hazy yellow with a medium fluffy white head that leaves good lace on the glass.

The aroma is spicy and doughy with light banana and mild earthy tones.

The flavor is doughy with some lemon zest and black pepper. The beer is dry but does have some light bubble gum character. Clean crisp malt flavor is present throughout.

Maybe I’m a sucker for this sort of thing, but this drank pretty good to me.

gyllenbock (1914) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - APR 29, 2012
On tap at Akkurat during Brooklyn tap takeover, April 27, 2012. Hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of yeast, citrus, spices and some ginger. Dry taste with quite a high bitterness. Not bad but far from the best Saison out there.

Draught @ Akkurat. Pours yellow, hazy, with a white head. Super drinkable, refreshing, yet complex! Notes of elderberries, ginger, citrus, currant seeds, orange peel, tigerbalsam and honey. Ends dry and quite bitter. True to style! Lovely, lovely beer!

finol (1344) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - APR 27, 2012
Draught at Akkurat. A fresh spicy brew, hops and ginger (Pepparkakor). Truely my kind of beer! Lots of taste but still drikable in larger quantities if you’d like (or in this case, had the possibility....)

TURDFERGUSON (2753) - Carrboro, North Carolina, USA - APR 26, 2012
Tap at Brooklyn Brewery. Weak ass saison. Lots of astringent banana, some orange peel, light vegetal notes. A bit tough to drink but I was with some college buddies at the start of a bachelor party so I manned up and finished the cup.

Hazy orange color, firm white head. Fruity nose has something like overriped peach. Light-bodied, crisp carbonation. Weak palate. Belgian yeast, hops, peach, apricot and some spices. Beer for food.

scarletfire65 (522) - Rockaway Park, New York, USA - MAR 6, 2012
Tasted at NYC Craft Beer Festival. Murky yellow. Fruity banana esters and lemon on the nose. Tart and light. Summery, refreshing. At 4.8 ABV it feels authentic.

dogfishho (275) - Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA - MAR 4, 2012
The aroma is wispy as there isn’t a whole lot going on beyond some mild doughy yeastiness and some small amount of cereal. Pours a bright, transluscent gold color with a thin white head. The flavor is too light. I like saisons a lot and I love the idea of a low alcohol, sessionable saison, but this one just doesn’t deliver enough to keep my interest.
