draft at redlight redlight. Sweet malts, cotton candy, with hints of spice in the nose. Pours a reddish amber with gold outsides with a thin white head. Very malty, bready, cereal, warming, a good bit of spice from the yeast. Excellent biere de garde. Very drinkable and refreshing.

On tap at the Beechtree. Pours a transparent orange amber color with a small white head. Smells sweet with malt and yeast. More malt in the mouth with a medium body. Ends with a bit of banana on the finish.

Tap at Barcade: Slightly hazy orange copper with a thin dense head. The aroma is sweet and dusty yeast character. Lightly grainy, with lots of sugary sweet malt character, fig, and diacetyl. Sticky carbonation and a sweet flavor. Sticky Belgian phenolics, honey and dried fruits. There is also some apparent alcohol, becoming peppery towards the finish. Sweet, alcoholic, one dimensional and not at all like a Biere De Garde..
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Sparky (2130) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - DEC 3, 2008
Sampled at Big Pour Mesa. Poured a medium amber with an off-white head. Nose is floral hops and spice. Taste is pretty much the same. Medium, mouth feel. OK brew.

Listed at Big Pour Mesa, AZ...stated by staff only as a Biere de Garde. This beer poured burnt orange with only a minimal ring of a head. It had a grassy, almost hoppy quality with a malty sweet backbone. Biscuit/bready characteristics as well. Spice wasnt aggressive but definitely present. A little syrupy. Not bad but not overly impressed.

Had this on draught at the Brewery. Dark amber with a 1.5 finger head. I got a significant amount of spice on the nose and maybe some dark red fruits - cassis or something of the like. I didn’t experience the floral mentioned by the previous reviewers but, then again, I only had one of these.
Alcohol is pretty prominent on the finish.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 JohnQPublic (387) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - NOV 20, 2008
Draught @ Brooklyn Brewery. Pours clear dark amber, with a fluffy white head. Nose is heavily spiced, yeasty, big sweet bready malt. Flavor is spicy up front, with a body that’s big and sweet, bready, with some dark fruit in there as well. Finish is yeasty, slightly off-dry. Mouthfeel is creamy, very light, but still a bit scrubbing. This was w a big hit for me, really well done.

Tap @ Blind Tiger. Pours a reddish-orange with a quickly-dissipating white head. Aroma is vegetal with malt and soapy notes detectable as well. Taste is largely the same, starting with malt and floral hops dissolving into a vegetal/soapy finish. Reminded me faintly of a biere de garde, and overall above average.
