COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Brooklyn Brewery is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. We are fortunate to be a part of the incredible cultural renaissance Brooklyn has enjoyed during the last quarter century. Four great Brooklyn artists whom we met along the way—Fred Tomaselli, Roxy Paine, Joe Amhrein and Elizabeth Crawford—have created special labels for our Silver Anniversary Lager beer. We are saluting our beginnings with a special doppelbock version of the Brooklyn Lager we introduced in 1988. This beer is re-fermented in the bottle and will taste great today or years from now. The original was inspired by the beers of 19th Century New York and Vienna.

Draught@Brooklyn Brewery. Rich, slightly sweet, hoppy aroma. Smooth flavor with a slightly burning alcohol finish. Full body, medium carbonation. Quite good despite the high ABV.

Draft to pint. Looks good; a mostly transparent copper with off-white lacing. Smells malty with notes of toffee and caramel. Tastes like it smells with a solid mouthfeel. An enjoyable dopplebock.

Dark golden amber pour with big eggy head. Nose is citrusy hops and caramel malts. Flavors Clean crisp mild hops and lots of semisweet caramel malts and a hint of booze. Light body with a pleasant, crisp mouth feel. Sticky bitter finish. Not cloying or boozy. Drink cold!

In short: A nourishing amber lager. Unmemorable.
How: Tap at Tap-NY festival 2013.
The look: Cloudy amber body topped by a medium beige head.
In long: Nose is sweet cereals, a bit fruity, a bit of caramel, a bit of honey, light phenolic notes. In mouth the beer feels big, a full body with expansive carbonation and doughy texture. Taste is nourishing doughy cookies, honey, a mix-bag of fruits, some caramel, mineral water, not much hops to talk about. Drinkability is probably pretty low and I didn’t like my glass to test the drinkability on a full bottle. A not-so-great beer from Brooklyn to celebrate their 25th anniversary, and it makes me feel very old to think I’ve probably been drinking beer for that long, getting older is not fun but I still prefer getting older to the alternative.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 1/17/2013. Pours lightly hazy orange copper color with a 2 finger fairly dense cream colored head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings around the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of caramel, orange zest, grapefruit, pear, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, pepper, floral, grass, pine, light nuttiness, and floral/yeast earthiness. Very nice and unique aromas with good balance and complexity of hop, malt, and yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of caramel, orange zest, grapefruit, pear, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, pepper, floral, grass, light pine, and floral/yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of caramel, citrus, pear, floral, toast, brown sugar, light pine, brown bread, grass, and floral/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of hop, malt, and yeast ester flavors; with a nice malt/hop balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice and unique doppelbock style. All around nice balance and complexity of hop, malt, and yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink for the alcohol level. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle from mane liquor. Pours a deep golden with a small white head. Aromas of citrus, bread malts, sweet caramel and pine resin. Taste is a citrus hop bitterness with bready and caramel malt tones. Very easy on the palate. Just wanna keep drinking this. 9% hidden very well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Sam’s Quik Shop. Pours amber, slightly brownish tinted with a healthy white head. Super slight haze. Nose shows rich caramel, surprising fruit notes (roasted peach, toffee, sweet plum). A bit more hops than expected. Not what I would have thought of for a doppelbock, but in a good way. Unique, and much better than expected. Rad label, too.

From bottle - pours a clear amber/orange color with a bone-colored head (it has been re-fermented in bottle so pour very carefully). Aromas: smells a bit resiny/pine on top with a bit of dough underneath. Medium carbonation, but the bubbles taste very small on the tongue, a bit sweetness and malty. Medium body with a smooth profile on the tongue. Finish is a nice mixture of malt and bitterness. Very refreshing, but hearty.
