COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Brooklyn Brewery is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. We are fortunate to be a part of the incredible cultural renaissance Brooklyn has enjoyed during the last quarter century. Four great Brooklyn artists whom we met along the way—Fred Tomaselli, Roxy Paine, Joe Amhrein and Elizabeth Crawford—have created special labels for our Silver Anniversary Lager beer. We are saluting our beginnings with a special doppelbock version of the Brooklyn Lager we introduced in 1988. This beer is re-fermented in the bottle and will taste great today or years from now. The original was inspired by the beers of 19th Century New York and Vienna.

Nice rocky off white foam atop a sparkling copper liquid. Perfumey, lightly citric aroma, oxidized malts - light sherry note, popcorn. Mineral flavors and feel with some lightly toasted malts, creamy feel. Finishing with a touch of heat and black pepper.

My Bottom Line:
Toasted bread crumbs are spruced up by alcohol warmth, as herbal hops proudly point their fruity tips.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the shiny amber.
-This isn’t the most authentic of Doppelbocks (lacks malty lengths), but it remains a refined sipper.
-The flavor profile is sadly forgettable in a region where tons of characterful strong ales are brewed.
-Caramelization levels are on the low end for the style.

Bottle.

Well this was a very nice beer if a bit un-distinctive. as a double bock it was quite smooth, no metallic aftertaste, slightly sweet with some grapefruit and a hint of grapes, quite cloudy with a modest head and some nice lacing.

Large 2013 bottle served in a small snifter. Hazy dark amber-brown with a modest but durable head. The glass gets nicely coated with lacing with each tip. Aroma: strong and malty for a lager. About 50/50 mix of hops and malt. Flavor: About 70/30 mix of hops and malt. Feel: medium body and carbonation; slightly dry O: a rich, strong and malty lager.
